MGM Studios 12-15 Trip Report

Today right after school me, my mom, and my brother went to MGM Studios to get some rides in, but mainly because my mom wanted to see the Osborne Lights.

So, we drove in and saw the parking lot pretty empty. Not really a big surprise, considering the time of year. We parked, got the tram, and then enterted the park. We headed straight to the ride wait time board (which is updated more often now) to see what the wait times were. 10 minutes for both Rock n' and Tower. We headed right from there to Rock n' Roller Coaster.

Rock n' Roller- it was a walk on to the front row. Let me say this: the ride has gotten a lot rougher since I last rode a year ago, even in the front row. The second to last car is still by far the smoothest. The ride in the very back was very painful, and I must have hit the OHSR at least 20 times. At least it still delieved some airtime off the rollover and the last hill. A cool thing that I never noticed is sometimes it is timed right so at the end of the lauch track a train goes right above you. In Review- don't get me wrong: still a VERY enjoyable and re-rideable ride, just rougher.

My mom and bro then went to do Tower, while I elected to stay on RRC to get a couple more rides. On our way to Millionare we saw some street entertainers singing their own version of the 12 days of Christmas. It was actually very funny, and it even had some things you don't usually heard being said by a cast member, such as thongs and naked men.

Millionare- after RRC we headed to Millionare for the last show. As much as I have done it, I still really enjoy it. I was close to getting in the hot seat, being 4th in the standings. I still love this show, and I'm sad that it will be going away soon.

Chronicles of Narnia- At MGM now they have a CON thing now where you go into a room, watch a 5 minute preview of the movie, and then go and look at some props and outfits from the movie. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit, as the themeing inside the building was really good, and the preview was pretty cool also.

Osborne Lights- Once again, Disney put on an amazing show this year. The lights, as usual, were just everywhere made with the attention to every slightest detail. The hidden Mickey's were fun to look for, and of cource, all the little kids were obsessed with the "snow". Year after year Disney gets a 10/10 from me for this, and I highly recomend it to everyone.

After that, my brother and I went to ride Rock n' Roller two more times, walking on, bringing our total count to 7. We could have gotten at least 5 more rides in in the last 30 minutes, but my brother wanted to go.

In review, we had a great day at the park. The weather was really nice, and the staff was great, actually trying to load up RRC fast, unlike a bunch of other parks that do it super slow. I kinda bummed RRC has gotten rougher, but it is expected. I really see Disney putting lap bars on this sometime in the next 6 or 7 years.

i just moved from jacksonville to scottsdale, and i agree, RRC is MUCH Rougher. I do love Vekoma's "hop" over the launch. That is probably why you have to wait a bit on the launch way

^It will probably be replaced in the near future, due to the fact that it has been there a while and the actual TV show isn't that popular anymore.

Though they are doing a TV taping of the real show there in January. So it's going to be around for a while yet. Don't know if they have any plans to actually close it yet.

actually it's usually packed this time of year. You should have rode tower. RRc always hurts by head from the year it was built (the last year i was there, i think) it's a vekoma what do you expect?

I have been telling you that RnRC is very rough, it took you long enough for you to beleive me. Also, Osbourne lights have been surging downhill in recent years. It is now so half assed that it isn't even worth seeing. It used to go on throught all the backstage house sets (making the walk to see them all about an hour) but now it is just on that little street. Don't even begin to try and tell me they are still good, as you havn't seen them when they actually try and put effort into it.

^^Actually, the first week of December to the Friday everyone gets out of school it's one of the least crowded times of year.

I know the ride would be rough, but it has gotten a lot rougher. But, I still love the ride and I can deal with the headbanging pretty easily. It really wasn't enough to give me a headache, so I'm fine with it.

EDIT: ^I have seen them for like the past four years, and they have been pretty much the same. But, I do agree they were better before Lights, Motors, Action was there/ under construction. They have gone a little downhill, but they went down from a 11/10 to a 10/10 ever since they moved to just NY Av.

The osborne lights are awesome. I love them alot.

Rock N Roller coaster was not rough at all when I was there in May. Maybe it needed a wheel change or something. Then again, I don't think Vekomas are rough.

Just because your family works for Disney doesn't mean you have to be super biased. I don't think you saw them the past 4 years, as I think they didn't do them one year. Plus, you've only been lliving here 4 years, I have been living here for nearly 10 years. I think I would no better.

I'm not really all that biased. I like at least 5 parks better than my number 1 Disney Park. And ya, I forgot they didn't have it that one year.

Anyway, do any of you guys see Disney putting lap bars on RnRC in the next 6 or 7 years?

No, because Vekoma will never make a looper without shoulder harnesses.
