Cedar Point - June 16 and 17

Well, I finally got to Cedar Point this year. I had planned this trip in about two weeks with Justin (CP Maverick) as a surprise for my girlfriend, Tara.

Friday June 16
Woke up at around 6:30am to catch my 8:30am bus to Windsor. Got to Windsor at around 1:15pm and was picked up by Justin and my girlfriend Tara about 5 minutes later. (Note, Justin lives about 3.5hours away from Windsor, so it was extremely nice of him to pick us up). The drive from Windsor to Sandusky is about 3 hours, but because of traffic and detours we got there around 5:45. We checked into our hotel (EconoLodge), which was right around the corner from the entrance to the park and had a decent price ($140 for both nights). After dropping off our stuff we headed to the park to meet up with Justin's girlfriend. Me and Tara bought our Starlight passes for $12.50 each (2 for 1 coupon) and went into the park. We decided to head straight to Millennium Force since we saw that it had a short line and Tara had never ridden it. The sign out front said 45min, but we actually waited around 2 hours because somebody unbuckled their seatbelt on the lift. In the last 3 trips to Cedar Point I had not been able to ride this coaster, and I sure as hell missed it. The ride was better than I had remembered, and the view was amazing from front car, second row. Tara automatically put it as her favourite coaster. Millennium Force: 9/10. After Millenium Force we were all hungry as none of us had ate anything that day and took the train to FrontierTown to get some Macho Nachos. I had never had Macho Nachos before, but I was impressed...me and Tara shared the $7 and filled us both up. After eating we headed over to Magnum and got a 2min wait for front row of second car. Tara had been on this ride last season and really enjoyed it, Magnum is also one of my favourite rides at this park. I was hoping for a trimless ride as night rides usually dont have trims but I was disappointed. The ride was still a blast though. Magnum XL-200: 8.5/10. Next we walked to the front of the park where Justin said good bye to his girlfriend and we got in line for Raptor. Raptor only had about a 15 min wait time for the front seat. I love this ride (it's my top invert) and was glad to see Tara loved it just as much as I did. The only problem with the front seat ride was the swarm of bugs sitting at the bottom of the cobra roll...Raptor: 9/10. After Raptor, we realized it was almost time to go and only had time for one more ride, so we went over to Wicked Twister. There was a walk on for any seat we wanted, so we took the second last row and the last row. Justin suggested the right side of the second last row for Tara so she could get the best view...he wasnt kidding. From that seat there is absolutely nothing under you on the back spike. After riding once, we got off and ran back around again. Wicked Twister 9/10. By the time our second ride was done it was about 10:10 and decided to call it a night. Before going back to our hotel we went to meijers to get some camera batteries and then Steak n Shake for some milkshakes.

Saturday June 17
We woke up at around 9am and headed to the park for about 9:30. Me and Tara both got our tickets for $30...luckily they counted Canadian Universities for the college discount. Once in the park we headed straight to TTD. Tara had never ridden it and was looking forward to it for weeks. The ride wasn't open when we got there and the line was back to just in front of the corkscrews over the midway. We got in line and waited. When the ride opened at 10am we waited about an hour to get into the station. We were 3 groups away from front seat second train when the ride went down. We decided to wait it out since me and Tara did not want to move from our spot. 4 hours later the mechanics told us that it would more than likely be awhile and encouraged us to leave. After leaving the line we decided to get some lunch since we missed breakfast. The hotdog we got on the front midway was a rip-off, but it still did it's job of filling us up. After the hot dog I bought me and Tara some cotton candy and we decided to play a game. We had a 2 for 1 game coupon so me and Tara split on a game so one of us would win for sure. I won the game and got Tara a teddy bear, however we didnt notice it was ripped down the back until later that night. After winning the bear we decided to ride Cedar Downs for fun; there was no line and the ride was actually kind of fun. After Cedar Downs we headed to the train and back to Frontier Town. After getting off the train we decided to try Mean Streak. Tara wanted to try every coaster she's never been on, despite our warnings. Mean Streak only had about 10 minute wait and we grabbed whatever car we could. Tara seemed to enjoy the ride more than me and Justin did. I always say this ride has great potential, but it needs work. Mean Streak 5/10. After Mean Streak we headed up Frontier Trail towards Millennium Force. We were thinking about waiting for one of the water rides, but the lines were so massive we just decided we'd keep cool by drinking more water. Millennium Force had a posted 1 hour wait, but we ended up waiting about 1.5 hours because someone unbuckled their seatbelt when we wer next in line. This time we opted to wait for the back car, and I dont think I can say anything about the ride besides it was the best ride I've ever had on MF. The speed the ride was running at was incredible, my butt barely touched the seat. Simply put, great ride. Millennium Force 10/10. Next we walked back to the front of the park for a ride on Blue Streak. I had gone too long without riding this coaster, and it was nice that the ride was a walk on for the front row. The ride was a lot of fun and had some nice airtime. Tara even admitted that it was fun for it's small size. Blue Streak 7.5/10. After Blue Streak we decided it was time for dinner and settled on TGI Fridays in Breakers. While we were waiting for our table we noticed that TTD was finally up and running so decided we would run there after we ate. We split on the triple play appitizer platter, me and Tara had the ultimate chese bacon burger, and Justin had the double stacked quesadilla. After dinner we ran to TTD, but it was closed again. Me and Tara asked the employee at the entrance if there was any chance it would open, but he didnt really answer. The mechanic waiting with him told us that there was a VERY slim chance the ride would open again that night. As were walking up the midway we noticed that a group of mechanics had pulled out part of the sled track and realized there was no chance we would ride TTD this weekend. After the disappointing sight we walked back to the front of the park because Justin wanted to fill out a compliment card for someone on the MF crew and me and Tara wanted to return our teddy bear because we noticed it had a large rip down the back. When we returned to the game the game person was a real b*tch and said it's not her fault and wasn't responsible, even though shes the same one that gave us the prize and knew she gave us a ripped bear. After feeling like we got cheated we walked to Frontier Trail where me and Tara decided to get an Old Time Photo...the plan was to get the picture taken and then ride SkyHawk, but the wait was bigger than we thought for the picture. Me and Tara decided to get a Civil War style photo since Western was too overdone, Victorian was too classy, and Gangster was just too cheesy. When asked what side I wanted to be dressed up as I had to call on what little knowledge of American History I have and decided to dress up in a Northern Uniform because all I know is that they won. After our picture we had time for one more ride and went back to Millennium Force. The posted time was an hour and we probably waited just under that ammount of time. Again we opted to ride the back car, and for good reasons...the ride was haulin' ass. This time I dont think my butt touched the seat once, we had some insane speed and airtime on the hills over to the island and back. Best ride I've ever had on this ride. Millennium Force: 12/10. When the ride was over it was past closing time and we headed back to the hotel to get some sleep.

Sunday June 18
Nothing really exciting this day. We checked out of the hotel, and headed to the park for a quick second. Justin ran into the park to get two souvenir maps for us and we were off. Before leaving we stopped at Breakers Express to get some pics of the new track and supports. Some of the track is completely twisted and messed up, all I can say is that this ride is going to kick ass. After getting his pictures, we headed back to Detroit to meet up woth our friend for lunch and then take me back to Windsor to catch my bus home.

All in all, a great weekend and I cant wait till we go back late September for Halloweekends.

Sounds like you had a great time! I really don't remember a whole lot of Friday after we got there ... Yeah so my trip report kinda sits in there as well. I'll have to get those pics uploaded.

Out of curiosity, how much was Dragster closed when you were there? I was able to make my way to Cedar Point on June 11, 12, 13, and 14. TTD was working marvelously every day except a couple brief (less than half hour) delays on tuesday and wednesday.

It seems to be after that it's been going up and down. You'd swear that ride was bipolar.

Friday night it was up but the line was too long and we didn't want to waste our entire night in line for that ride.
Saturday it was down probably 90% of the day.

You can see that the catch car track was pulled right out for repair. Justin took that picture after the mechanic told us that there was a very slim chance of the ride re-opening that night.

Nice TR. Now I'm really wondering what this coaster is going to be next year. It looks like Intamin track, but they already have a rocket, giga and impulse, so what's left that Intamin builds?
