| | | Help With Hersheypark, BGE, SFA, PKD Soon, I will be going on vacation to these parks. Are the parks crowded on the days I'm visiting them? When should I ride their star attractions, which rides have long waits, and which ones can't I miss no matter the wait?
1) Hersheypark (Thursday, Friday)
2) Dutch Wonderland (Saturday)
3) Paramount King's Dominion (Sunday, Monday)
4) Busch Gardens Europe (Tuesday, Wednesday)
5) Six Flags America (Thursday, Friday)
6) Knoebels (Saturday)
7) Rye Playland (Sunday, Wednesday)

| | | I was at Hersheypark in June of last year on a weekday. I had minimal waits for everything. Storm Runner (which you CANNOT miss) only had a 15 min wait.
At PKD, I understand that Volcano gets massive lines. The one time I was there, April 2004, the park was empty, so I cannot verify that. Excellent ride though.
Did BGE last fall. I was there on a September weekend and the only long line was for DarKastle. Honestly, that ride and the 4 coasters there are all awesome. Excellent park. Marathoned AC at the end of the day. |

| | | Hesheypark - Don't miss Storm Runner or Lighting Racer. Comet isn't bad either. Storm Runner will probably have a longer line, but it moves relatively fast. Wildcat is very rough, but gives a nice ride. Listen for the duck as you get off the brake run. Roller Soaker is sort of crappy, and the line moves VERY slow. I didn't ride Trailblazer, but Sidewinder sucks, obviously. Lightning Racer will almost definately have no line. Ride it as much as possible.
BGE - Wednesday is the dead day, from what I hear. I can't tell you about waits, because the park had 2000 people in it all day when I was there. DarKastle was the only ride we waited for, but it was only 3 minutes, so expect a line on that one. It's a small park, but there's plenty to do. Ride Apollo's Chariot first, whatever the wait. It's an incredible ride that shouldn't be passed up, ride in the back or in row 3. Big Bad Wolf is also amazing. Head to the front for the best ride. Alpengeist is okay. I didn't see the big deal about it. If it's raining, sitting in the front row could be the worst choice you make all day. Sit in the back if this is the case. Loch Ness Monster gets some interesting airtime in the front and some great air off the first drop in the back. The interlocking loops are pure gimmick, nothing too interesting. If you get lost, don't bother looking at a park map - it will probably make it worse. Just wander around until you see something recognizable. If you don't see any rides, you're probably in the Wildlife Reserve, so keep walking. DarKastle shouldn't be passed up. Escape from Pompeii is really nice on a cold day (weird, I know). You might get a little wet, but the fire effects are awesome. Also check out the flat rides in the DaVinci section (San Marco?). DaVinci's cradle is actually a lot of fun, and Flying Machine isn't bad. Corkscrew Hill is an interesting show of you have time.

| | | Ok, well, I must admit, I'm semi-biased. Wednesdays aren't too bad - weekdays are usually slow. I agree that you must hit all four roller coasters, and I personally think the front all the way on the right side of the train is best for Alpengeist. It's a longer wait, but it's worth it. DarKastle is a lot of fun - and if you get lost, ask someone in a costume. Trust me - we're hard to miss. If you see me at Alpengeist, feel free to say hi - I love makin' new friends! Hope you have a good trip!

| | | Thanks for the advice. I definitely am riding the major roller coasters at the parks in both the front and back seats. How long are the waits for the rides?

| | | Depends - early in the mornin', or closer to close, the lines are going to be shorter. And yes, I was workin' the 14th - we closed early, if memory serves, because there were only like 2,000 people in the park or somethin...

| | | ^Sweet, I probably talked to you, lol. I had no idea you closed early that day, though now that I think of it, it makes perfect sense.
