Best Seat on Storm Runner and Volcano

This weekend I will be riding both Storm Runner and Volcano. I have never been on an Intamin AG coaster, or a launch coaster other than the Rock "N" Roller Coaster. Because of their lines and reliablity, I might not get to ride them much. Which seats are the best on both of these coasters?

Also, do they tell you when they launch you on Storm Runner (with a screen, audio, or a traffic light sort of signal)?

Can't tell you about Volcano, but the best seat on SR is of course the front. If you don't go to Hershey very often, it's worth the extra wait. The station can be a good doggyaotic since they load from both sides. Often times you can slide into the second row with minimal wait time since everyone seems to avoid the large mass of people at the front row line.

There are no christmas tree lights like TTD or Xcelerator. There is just a speaker that announces, "Get ready, here we go!," before the launch. It's a great ride with lots of G's, just be warned that the OTSR's are murder on your shoulders if you are a tall person.

I've been Volcano I know at least 25-30 times and I can't tell much difference in any of the seats.

The front is best for the view.

I don't mind riding in the second row, as the line is much shorter and the ride is basically the same, but I would really wan't the front seat for my first extreme launch coaster. The phrase before the launch sounds similar to what they say before the launch on Canobie's StarBlaster double shot tower. I might also try a seat towards the back depending on the wait.

As far as I'm concerned, the front and back give different rides, so I'll try them both on Volcano, unless the wait is long. If the line is long I'll ride in the front seat for the view.

Volcano's front seat is the only seat I'll ever sit in again. I love the view. The other seats just don't have a good view.

I love Storm Runner's backseat airtime over the first drop, but I lean towards favoring the front car. It has some crazy airtime heading into the Barrel Roll.

Does Volcano's backseat give a good whip effect? Also, do you loose your stomach on Storm Runner's first drop in the back seat like you would on a drop tower since Storm Runner's drop is vertical.

VTBC feels very laggy once the launch is over.. So I would just stick to the front seat so you get the good view...

That's a nice view! How often does Volcano's fire effects turn on and blast a fireball through the top of the volcano?

How often do these two coasters breakdown on a daily basis?

lol.. XLC seems to be load'd with downtime. VTBC not so much. But yeah I would hit XLC right away to save line time and to less the chance of it being down. On one of my vists to the park in 2002 the ride didnt even open until 3pm....

As for VTBCs fireball... I think its just random.. like every 5-8mins it goes off.

If you want an on-ride on Storm Runner, dont sit in the back.

you ABSOLUTELY MUST ride the volcano in the front the first time. with nothing in your way, its like flying with a rocket strapped to your back.

the different seats in the volcano will give different sensations, particularly on the roll-out right after the launch... but i think the launch is a little inconsistent, so you cant be sure how its going to feel. sometimes it'll come out of the top of the volcano a little faster or slower, and that totally changes the feel.

also, make sure its actually running. volcano got shut down a few weeks ago, i have no idea if its up again.

Volcano's running. A poster in another forum said there was a 90 minute wait this past Sunday.
