| | | Sfa 7/24/06 I went with my sister to Six Flags America for only the second time this season as a guest rather then an employee on Monday, July 24th. The weather was EXTREMELY hot. The crowds seemed to be relatively light because when I arrived a little before 1:00 the main parking lot was just about full and the overflow lot had not been used yet.
I decided we’d start the day over in Gotham City. Sadly Jokers Jinx was down so we kept walking down to Superman: Ride of Steel.
Only the blue train was running which meant it would be a few train wait for the back seat. As we stood in line the ride had technical difficulties though so the wait was prolonged a little bit. It took about 20 minutes to get things rolling again, but when the ride re-opened I was in the front row of the 7th car. Superman has been running so fast lately its insane. The first drop was great, the second hill gave some great floater air all the way down, all the other hills were filled with air time galore. Still one of the best coasters out there.
Next we walked down to Batwing which was also running one train and running it pretty slowly. I was disappointed to also see the front seat was closed off. But it wasn’t that big of a deal because the back seat has always been my favorite row on this coaster anyways. The line was long but I was willing to wait as I had only been on this ride 3 times this season and I love the Vekoma flyers, they're about 1,000,000 times better then the B&M variety. After a 45 minute or so wait (although it seemed a lot longer with the hot, hot heat) we were getting strapped in the back seat. Batwing may be my favorite flying coaster but its kind of hard to say. The ride is smooth enough and has a great first drop, over banked turn, and vertical loop. But it just sits in a big field so it lacks scenery. It’s a great ride but Borg Assimilator is still my favorite flying coaster.
We made the long trek all the way back towards the rest of the park and decided to head to Southwest Territory home of the Wild One, Two Face, and all that good stuff.
Wild One had a one train wait for the front and no train wait for the back. So we jumped on the back. The ride was running FAST as heck. I don’t remember ever getting that much airtime, on Wild One it was superb from the first drop the final brakes. We got off and went over to Tower of Doom.
Tower of Doom is a fun second generation Intamin drop tower which never has much of a wait, it has some really cool views from the top so for a 10 second or so long ride it’s a great time. Next up was Two Face The Flip Side
Two Face had no wait for the front seat which goes through the inversions forward first, so we went on there. I normally prefer the other front seat because I find it smoother, but I’ll have to rethink that position because I had the best ride on an invertigo ever. This ride is so crazy, and for a Vekoma it is really smooth. Easily the biggest pleasant surprise of the day.
Next my sister and I walked over to Shipwreck Falls to get hit by the giant wave and get cooled down. After this we went on Mind Eraser.
I don’t know why I keep giving this ride more chances to beat me up… For the past month all I’ve been hearing is “Mind Eraser is so smooth, it’s running great!” So I figure I’ll try it again. There was no wait for the back so I got on back there. Sadly a few seats on each train were broken so some people got flustered or had a hard time comprehending the situation and finding another empty seat which slowed down boarding, but everything was a-ok (except for the loading attendant talking on her cell phone, which isn’t cool but didn’t stop her from working fast so I’m not complaining) and loading was faster then most days. Things started out nicely, the first drop and the first 2 inversions were actually really smooth. After that though I was pummeled in ways I hadn’t been pummeled on a coaster since riding Viper @ SFGAdv. It was pretty rough to say the least.
Next up was Roar. Sadly Roar had one train running but there was no wait for the back so it wasn’t a big deal. The attendants were getting that one train out fast, too, so I wasn’t complaining. Roar used to be amazing in the back but now after the great airtime on the first drop there’s nothing special about it. Just lots of rough turns and drops with no airtime. I suggest the front all the way. Its smooth and you get some great air time.
So we finished all the coasters and needed to cool off so went to Hurricane Harbor. We got our locker and went to Tornado, the best water slide EVER. I love these things… There was a pretty long wait but it was well worth it. I got the most airtime all day on this ride on the big drop into funnel. I was literally inches off the tube, it was amazing. The funnel was a lot of fun as well. Great stuff.
Then we dived in the wave pool. Sadly there were no waves to be found the whole time we were in there… It was still really nice though.
After taking a swim we called it quits and went home. Overall it was a great day.

| | | I was planning on going there the 3rd and 4th of August, but my mother and father wanted to tour Washington D.C. instead because of how they were worried about crime, cleanliness, and prices.
Glad you enjoyed Six Flags America and there various fun coasters like Superman, Batwing, Wild One, and Roar. Too bad Joker's Jinx wasn't open because of Six Flags shutting down Premier coasters after the Chiller incident.

| | | Actually JJ had been open and running one train a week ago and I able to get a couple of rides in before I started working for the day.
SFA gets a bad rep with maintenance issues and occasionally rude/bad employees. But I really feel that this season the park has cleaned up a lot and I'd deffinately suggest giving it a visit. The coaster collection by itself is pretty awesome and the park has a nice waterpark and line up of flats as well.

| | | They're seriously in need of some new flats, especially some inverting ones.Is Roar's 2nd train on the transfer or has it been removed alltogether?I hear that the trains are in need of major maintenance because the ride is just getting torn up & it shows based on the laps I've taken on it so far this season. |

SFGAdv has a fare Higher crime rate then SFam. even the DC area has a worse rap then they really have. it's specific areas not every were.
hopefully next time. |

The trains sounded and were running pretty badly outside of the front seat...

| | | YA allot of Parks in the chain are. TGE, SFNE, SFAm, SFDL, SFEG. I haven't heard anything on the other parks but I wouldn't be surprised if they did as well. |

I'm glad its not just SFA though, otherwise I'd fear for the parks future.
