| Since I'm the only one who likes it I went to Coney Island last wednesday and plan to go again next Friday. I didn't do much on Wednesday, I just needed to ride a coaster in the onth of July. When I got there, I went right to the Cyclone, and rode in the front. Fun ride, good airtime, not too shaky, but high lats. Still, I love it. I then entered Astroland for some good flat action. I wanted to ride the Power Surge but it was.... gone. I asked the guy at the Top Spin booth, and in the best English he could, and hand gestures, he said that people came off the ride with bloody faces. I never found it to be rough. At least I rode it before. Then I looked at the pirate ship and noticed something. It was on steroids. Usually, I see swinging ships move so that the edge is just in the ride platform. On this one, the entire ship left at least 10 feet from the platform, if not more. I sat on the edge, and got floater as good as on Nitro. It's the best swinging ship ever.
next I wanted to hit the Top Spin, but they had the water on, and the weather was just right, so getting wet I would've been a bit cold. I moved on through the kiddie park, onto the boardwalk. It's so nice being able to sea the ocean. I looked at it for a while, then went into Deno's. They don't have as good of a kidie ride collection as Astroland, but they do have a Moser freefall, which is like an S&S frog hopper, but a lot better. After taking a spin on that, I went into the adult ride section. They have a drop tower, which I skipped, because I decided to wait until I brought my friends the next week. I've been on it before. They also have a thunderbolt, which I rode, and it was a really great ride. Better than a break dancer. So next, I went back to Astroland to ride the Cylcone more. I went for the back car and sat in the second to last row. Wow. It was a bit less shaky then the front, and the airtime is incredbile. The lats are brought down from painful to really fun. Then I re-rode in the middle car, last row. This ride was not shaky, it was just plain rough. The lats weren't as high as the front, but there was no airtime, the ride seemed to be way to bumpy, and it turned the Cyclone into Hercules. Do youself a favor, and don't ride in the middle car. But remember, each ride I also rode in a different row i nthe car, and when I rode in the middle, I rode in the last row of the car. So when I go on friday, I'll do some more investigation to see if it's the row or the car. But I did find it to be smoothest in the second to last row, so try that, it's the best seat.
Next time I go, I'll ride the drop tower and Top Spin, because those two are the best flats in the park(s). If you want to go next Friday, reply here. I'll have pictures from that trip. This trip was mainly to hold me off from going insane from roller coaster deficiency.
As for the actualy loaction of the parks: It's not crappy and dirty as everyone says. It is actually very clean. It looks old, that's all, because it is old. It's very carnival style, but the overall appearance is exactly what you would expect in Brooklyn. This is a city park, catering to New York City. The park looks like the rest of the city, old, not dirty. There is something special about every part of New York, and Coney Island has amuement parks andgreat beaches. Give the park a chance, look at it from a different persepcitve. You'll love it.
