SFoG Season Passholder Day 11/4

Woke up early this morning at around 7:45 and got ready to head to the park. It was COLD-highs around 50-when I left the house it was below freezing.

I got to the park around 10, went straight to (you guessed it) Goliath, which opened up just as I got in line. I rode Goliath 9 straight times after meeting up with some enthusiast friends from my high school that now go to Tech. Then I rode Cyclone in the back, which was terribly slow and still running with trims (they could have turned off the trims and it still would have been slower than normal). I headed to Scorcher and rode in the front.

After Scorcher, I was getting hungry, but the lines at every food place were enormous, so I rode Goliath four times more for 53 on the year. The lines were still long, so I headed to S:UF and got a front seat ride with just a few minutes wait. I then walked over and hit GASM, which needed some axle grease (it was screeching like crazy and was pretty slow and rough). Since Ninja was a walkon in every row, I rode in the magic seat (7-1), which only sucked slightly and had some nice hangtime in the corkscrews.

After that, I headed up to Panda Express and got some orange chicken, which was really cheap since everything was half off. I then walked over to Gotham, where Mindbender had a pretty decent line and only one train running. I then rode Batman twice, which seems to get worse with every visit. I'm not sure what's wrong with the wheel assemblies, but they are louder than they've ever been-they actually distract you from the ride they are so loud. It wasn't particularly rough just really loud and vibration-y.

Anyway, I then got bored with the park (since the only thing that was open that I wanted to do was Mindbender, and the wait was too much) and went to Goliath. I realized that Goliath is-to me-the best coaster in the world. Yay for Goliath and hooray for SFOG getting a truely great coaster. I rode thirteen more times (stopping to say goodbye to my friends and walk them to the front of the park). I got the second to last ride of the season on Goliath, which was the first time I had ridden it at night (it wasn't totally night, but there are lights on it anyway).

Totals:

Goliath-26 (66 on the year!)
Batman-2
Ninja-1
Scorcher-1
Cyclone-1
GASM-1
S:UF-1

Everything was running one train except for S:UF, Batman, and Goliath. Ninja was running two trains but only loading one, which totally baffled me (why wear out a train when you don't even use it?).

All in all, the best day of the year at the park, even if it was a bit cold.

Don't worry, it only means I'm a better person than you.

That was odd about Ninja's 2nd train. When I stood in "line", I was like huh? It didn't make sense to me at the time, but maybe somebody knows something we don't. Anyone?

Great day at the park! Mindbender was giving me the best air I've EVER had on it. It could've used two trains.

Oh one other thing...Doesn't Sogo have 3 trains? Seems like I noticed 3 on opening day (the only other time I went this year). I was wondering where it was or if SFOG has already sent it off for winter refurbs. I ended up riding on the last train out for the season. Woo!

^Goliath only has two trains, since it doesn't have enough blocks to run three trains.

Block 1: Station
Block 2: Lift
Block 3: Entire ride through the holding brakes before the station

So it couldn't possibly run 3 trains unless they turned the magnetic brakes and brakes just after into a block. Even then it wouldn't make much sense, because they'd most likely have double stacking every time unless the ops were super fast (and if they were fast, it would still stack at least one train).

If you were on the last train of the night, you probably saw me on the second to last ride. I was in the second row.

I probably did see you. What were you wearing?

I was thinking the third Sogo train was just an extra one...not that SF would actually run all 3 simultaneously.

You guys got extra time in the season? Cool. Two trains for Goliath sounds good enough. It would run like a typical NITRO day this past season.

I had on a black and grey long-sleeved t-shirt with a red BGE shirt on.

And yeah, Goliath has two trains. One has a mostly teal zero car, the other has a mostly orange zero car.

Was it the "Fear the Four" shirt? I think I rode GASM with you in the next to last seat if so lol.

^Haha, yeah, that was me.

So you were the guy in shades? Funny stuff, GASM was running pretty slow and needed some wheel grease or something.

Yep that was me, and I had on a Knott's t shirt which you would'nt have been able to see since I had on a hoodie over it. Did you go to the ACE gathering? I don't think I saw you in there, but SFOG gave away some nice grab bags and other souvenirs. I got the SFOG book and it's GOOD!

It was well worth getting up at 3:30 am to drive 4 hours to the ATL, do SFOG and The Varsity, then drive 4 hours back home lol.
