So I headed off as a kind've spur of the moment trip today with my happy go lucky mom and two of my friends (Ami and Amy) to Kentucky Kingdom. My mom didn't go in with us might I add, she went with some friends. After a kind've late leave from Lexington, we arrived at Six Flags, got our tickets and were in by 12:30, 12:40-ish. It was memorial day, I was expecting crowds, heat, and long long waits. I got off on nearly all of it, as everyone went to the waterpark, and clouds soon enough came over and covered most of the park giving shade.
I hadn't been to the park for a ful experience in I'd say a good two years. The only visits in between were quick stops or quick run ins during the state fair. The park is looking good. Paint is touched up everywhere except for T2. The staff seemed happy. And the lines never went beyond the station on everything except for Blizzard River which we didn't ride anyway. The Deluge water coaster seemed to be a hit from what I could see of it. I'll brake down the rides now and then show the pictures. Be warned, the pictures are kind've cloudy as that's how it was throughout the day.
Roadrunner Express: This thing isn't what is used to be. It's not the coaster, it's me. I've grown and it hasn't. It's not pleasing for the legs, plus those brakes are just harsh. I did however like the touch up on the themeing, it was fresh.
Greezed Lightning: There was no line, we waited one train for the back. This got both girls perky and excited about the park, because beforehand they were still claiming there was nothing outside of King's Island, and although SFKK isn't king's island, it is still a good park on it's good days.
Thunder Run: wasn't running as smooth as it was last year, however it was still no where near as bad as people keep detailing it. Maybe people should toughen up a little, I mean their not marathoning SOB.
We hit Mile High Falls and then
Twisted Twins: It wasn't quite as bad as I remember either, but still those trains are just not plasent. Also I don't like the sounds these trains make, they should find someway to silence it.
We hit
T2 which was utterly horrible. The trains rattled and shook and banged. I'd swear they were dancing. Plus the paint is peeling. T2 is in some dire need of rehab. The trains looked neat and clean though.
Chang: CHANG CHANG CHANG. I have renewed hope. I only slightly bumped my head once. The train seats are sparkling! The paint job is great. I remember now why it was once a world wide rivaled coaster, and why it still should be.
An comments appreciated.
