Hershey park Question

Hey guys,
I was thinking about hitting Hershey Park in august or September. What would be better crowd wise, a week day in August or a Saturday or Sunday in september? Also can the park easily be done in 1 day? Its been 6 years since I have been there. Is the park hard or easy to navigate? Are the maps helpful. Thanks for any info

If you can, during the last week of August, the park is dead. Most of the local schools start that week. Everything is a walk-on; the longest lines never top 15 minutes. You would be easily able to ride all of the coasters in one day. If you add a few of the flats (The Claw, Tilt-a-Whirl, Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge, Flying Falcon, etc), you'll still have time. With the Boardwalk new this year, and if you're into that kind of stuff, you can spend 45 minutes to hours there.

Overall, however, you should be able to do everything you want to do in one day. I've been to Hershey many times, but it is fairly easy to navigate if you look at the map. In addition, there are signs all over the park to help you get places. Park employees are a great source of directions as well.

The map is helpful; its quality has declined over the years, but that's another story...*venting* It's still much better than many other park maps.

Be sure to check out any new markings or construction for 2008- I was there on Thursday but didn't see anything besides a few colored markings in front of the Playdome Arcade in Pioneer Frontier.

Above all, though, have a great trip. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for the info. Can you explain to me exactly what the boardwalk is all about? I heard about but dont know what is.
Also how are the crowds on a Sat or sun in September?

The crowds in Sept on the weekends are completely unbearable. Expect a minimum 60 minute wait on most coasters.

The Boardwalk is a new waterpark attraction inside the park (you don't have to pay anything extra). There are several components:

East Coast Waterworks: The world's largest interactive water-play structure.
Coastline Plunge: A set of four waterslides, including Proslide funnel and bowl slides.
Waverider: A Flowrider wave machine where you can boogie-board on manmade waves.
Bayside Pier: A small wavepool with an average depth of 18 inches.
Sandcastle Cove: A small play area with water toys and a slide for the little kids.

In addition, there are many new shops, restaurants, and games stands in the area. The queues of Tidal Force (Shoot-the-Chutes) and Canyon River Rapids have been diverted to feed into this area as well.

Hope this helps!

I remember the last days of August years ago how the park was very doable, crowds were light.

The only ride that might be undoable in august is Roller Soaker. I've seen walk ons on every ride in the park and a 2 hour wait for this one.

I'd go during a weekday in August. I went on a Saturday last summer and it got relatively crowded and the lines were a bit lengthy, but I was still easily able to get all the coasters finished in one day.

Roller Soaker is decent, but if it comes down to getting that credit or any other coaster in the park (or even a re-ride on one of the other coasters) I'd go with the other coasters.

August can get crowded, I went on a weekday in August in 2005 and Great Bear was close to 45 minutes, Lightning Racers was 30 minutes. I know those aren't considered long waits but it wasn't as empty as I would have hoped
