| | | First trip to Cedar Point Well I just got home last night from my trip to Ohio here’s how my first trip at Cedar Point went. We left North Carolina for Ohio at about 6 AM Sunday morning and arrived in Sandusky at around 4:30 PM. As soon as we got to our hotel (Hotel Breakers) we got all our stuff out of the car and went straight to the park. Below are my ratings of all the roller coasters/rides we rode during our three and half days at Cedar Point: Roller Coasters: Blue Streak: This wooden coaster was surprisingly not rough. I figured it would be since it is an older coaster. I got pretty decent airtime on it as well. 7/10 Corkscrew: Lots of people had told me this ride was rough and jerky…it was. The best part of the whole ride was going down the hill simply because my shoulder harness was looser. 4/10 Gemini: This is the best Arrow coaster I’ve ever ridden. I thought it was a lot of fun; it had good airtime and it was pretty smooth. 8/10 Iron Dragon: My first suspended coaster. I thought it was pretty fun, slower and shorter but still fun. 8/10 Magnum XL 200: I found the restraint uncomfortable and the ride rough. I wouldn’t ride it again most likely. 5/10 Mantis: Between it and the only other stand up coaster I’ve ridden (Vortex at Carowinds) I liked Mantis the best. It had a lot more to it, I’ll admit it was a bit uncomfortable on your legs but I enjoyed it and I’m not big on stand-ups at all. 8/10 Maverick: I didn’t enjoy Maverick near as much as I thought I would. It was a head- banger IMO. The drop was awesome and the second launch in the tunnel was fun but the rest of the ride was bad I thought. 6/10 Mean Streak: It wasn’t as rough as I expected it to be. It was just okay for me I liked Blue Streak better. 6/10 Millennium Force: This was my favorite ride at Cedar Point and everywhere as well. It was smooth and exciting until the very end. 10/10 Raptor: I love B&M inverts and Raptor was no different I thought it was great. The very end was a little uncomfortable but it was still an awesome ride. 10/10 Top Thrill Dragster: One word: fast. I loved this ride it is my second favorite coaster in the park. Front seat is the best! 10/10 Wicked Twister: Twists were cool and the launch felt faster than 72 mph (even though I know it wasn’t). 9/10 Rides: Chaos: I was so dizzy after this ride! It was different than anything I’ve ever been on that’s for sure. 7/10 Giant Wheel: Just like any other Ferris wheel but it was a nice break from all the wild rides and thrilling coasters. Matterhorn: I could not believe the lap bars didn’t lock with all the swinging that ride does. It kind of worried me. 4/10 maXair: Best flat ride I’ve ever ridden! 10/10 Monster: It is very different…but for some reason I thought it was fun! 8/10 PowerTower (Space Shot) : This side of Power Tower blew the other side away! I loved the launch. 10/10 PowerTower (Turbo Drop) : Not nearly as fun as the other side but still pretty good. 8/10 Sky Ride: Saved me from walking long distances a few times! Skyhawk: This was my first Screaming Swing. It was a lot of fun I just wish it lasted longer. 9/10 Super Himalaya: The only ride I got my mom on lol. I was pretty swished between her and my friend but it was still a good little ride. 7/10 Troika: Like Chaos it was certainly different! 6/10 All in all I had a great time at Cedar Point. The employees were friendly, the park was very clean and the food (at least at the Midway Market) was good. I can't wait to see what this park builds next!

| | | I just can't believe you liked Mantis and Mean Streak more than Maverick and Magnum. You like what you like, I guess. Ever since your comment about it in that other thread, I've been trying to think of things that would make me love Mantis more than Maverick. And I can't. Maverick is just the most fun coaster experience out there. And Magnum is just behind MF for third in the park.
You need to be a little tougher on some of the rides though. haha. Three perfect 10s!

| | | Sounds like you had fun, but i'm still confused on how you said you liked Blue Streak better than Mean Streak, but gave Mean Streak a higher rating. Also, if you ever get the chance to go to Kennywood, the Swing Shot(Screaming Swing) is a lot better than Skyhawk because it has more swings.

| | | ^ Whoops I got the ratings mixed up some how thanks for telling me. Also I'd love to go to Kennywood, I enjoyed Skyhawk but I've heard the Screaming Swing at Kennywood lasts much longer.
^^^ I think the reason I didn't like Magnum too well was because I pushed the lap bar down too far, I'm bad about doing that. |

| | | Props about the Mantis review. Mantis is easily the most underrated coaster at Cedar Point.

I'm breaking down your trip as reported... Blue Streak sure surprised you. I remember riding that as a kid before this entire ACE Classic crap started. Riding this coaster's lap bar down to my dad's lap (and before seat belts) was AIR TIME. For years, this was my favorite coaster.
Did you ride Corkscrew in the front seat? That's the best place to ride this coaster. It woudl be worth an extra 2 ratings. Gemini is 10/10. airtime, head/hand choppers, and the racing effect. I disagree with your 8/10.
An 8/10 on Iron Dragon? Wow...I'd give it a 5 or 6, just based on the second lift hill. Of course, this is one of the two coasters in the park that my parents FORCED me on. Magnum...I'd give a 7. Yes, it is uncomfy if you staple yourself in, but that's your own fault. Still a fun ride, and by the beach. Mantis. I agree with the score. I rode King Cobra at Kings Island, and Mantis blew that out of the water. Mean Streak? Its good for one ride...maybe two. Millennium Force: I agree whole-heartedly 10/10 Raptor is good, though I wouldn't give it a 10. Chip might disagree here though.
You failed to mention the best compact coaster...WildCat and the best indoor coaster (at the park) Disaster Transport. As Avalnche Run, DT was cool. Still...where else are you going to ride a bobsled coaster?
-------
As far as your flats go...
Thumbs up on your trip go to Chaos, Giant wheel (though my dad HATES IT), Matterhorn (my sister's favorite), Monster, Power Tower, Super Himalaya (Mom's fav, as well as Calypso).
I've always said that Troika was the Scrambler on crack. Good to see you had fun. But you also missed the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
For that matter, your trip report fails.

| | | ^Wow. Just because her opinions aren't like yours, doesn't mean she fails! She took a lot of time and effort to write that.

| | | Woah, what the hell is going on in here. Andrew getting involved in a serious discussion about roller coasters? Did someone forget to tell me that the world was coming to an end?
Mantis deserves more recognition in my opinion. It's on of my favorite rides and so many people seem to hate it.

| | | She has every right to rate a ride as she chooses. So what if she didn't ride Wildcat or Disaster Transport? What if she did and didn't feel like writing about it. You have no right to call her out like that Andrew.
I didn't rank either Wildcat and Disaster Transport high, they aren't anything special.
Trip reports are what that person experiences and if some of you (not naming anyone) would travel to different parks might not be so uppity about CP.
So I am done ranting and if that makes me a total b*tch, then so be it. But there was absolutely NO REASON for anyone to rip a trip report up like that.

| | | ^:^^^, I think he was kidding...this is Andrew here. Anyway, I like the report, as I enjoy the ratings and disagreeing with them myself. I love to argue sometimes, but a lot of those I agree with. Mean Streak I would've been a little more harsh, and knowing me, I would've given Maverick a better score, just cuz its new. Anyway, wow, I really don't think Andrew was being serious about it failing, but I guess that's just how I interpreted his post.
And Katie, he didn't rip it up at all. He agreed with most of her ride ratings. How is that ripping it up. He gave suggestions and he was giving his opinion, which is what we're allowed to do in this threads. I, honestly, wouldn't be offended by that at all if I was writing the TR. Wow, some of you *not mentioning any names* need to quit assuming that someone, that has a reputation, was being too critical and just leave it alone. Goodnight!

| | | ^Exactly.
And besides...it had more to it than most TRs I have seen on this site. Most just say how many times they rode Coaster A, Coaster B, etc and the wait times. This one had thought, but I still stand by my latter comments.

| | | Saying someones trip report failed just because she didn't ride certain rides is completely BS. She at least gave honest reviews to what she rode. OMG, she didn't love corkscrew, not many people do. It's old and gives the brain a good knocking around.
So what if she didn't ride other things, doesn't mean someone has to be an ass about it. Yes, Andrew gave his opinions, but that doesn't mean he had to be rude about it. And I will still stand by what I said. It was rude and uncalled for.
Not everyone is gonna like every coaster at CP. In fact I think most of them are generally OK. I only have two stand out coasters that I would rank in my top ten at that park. Doesn't mean they fit everyone else's opinion but I don't say someone failed just because they didn't like the rides I do.
So there ya go, me being a total b*tch again.
