Return to Cedar Point (2nd trip)

Well, I am now back from Cedar Point, and have decided to write a trip report. I have only been once before this (back in 04); however, my 07' trip was even more thrilling. Here are some reasons why:

Accomodations:

Hotel Breakers: HB is a great hotel if you are staying at Cedar Point. The hotel itself is good but the location is what sets it apart. In 2004, I stayed at a Hampton somewhere in Sandusky, and the drive was around 10 mins to the park. However, if you stay at breakers, theres a seperate entrance on the beach and lower admission fees. Overall, the hotel is nice (has a pool, arcade, and TGI Fridays), but the fact that it is on CP property makes it a must. 9/10

Roller Coasters:

Maverick: What a ride! One of only three rides I had'nt ridden since my last visit (maxair, skyhawk, and maverick), it was more than I expected. Yeh, I would have liked the heartline-roll, but still a great ride if you ride closer to the front, the back is a bit head-bangy. 8/10

Top Thrill Dragster: I had ridden it back in 04', and although alot of riders say it gets boring, I have to say this is my favorite ride in the world. I just love the launch at 120 and the height at 420. However, the right seat in the front at night may leave you with some bug juice. 10/10

Wicked Twister: I only got to experience this ride once, as it was broken for some time. It's not really that great of a ride in my opinion. The launch is fun, but for some reason I didn't want wait in line to ride again. 6/10

Millenium Force: Although I did get stuck about 2/3 up the lift hill (first run of the day), I can move past that as the smoothness and "flying" feeling of this ride delivers like no other. In fact, I felt like I was flying more on this coaster than "tatsu" at MM. Great, fast, and essential. 10/10

Magnum XL-200: Another good ride with some history. Being built in 89' I have to give it some credit. It does'nt compare with TTD and MF in my opinion, but it really was a fun ride, especially the turns near the beach. A good ride with a decent amount of re-ride value. 7/10

Blue Streak: The oldest roller coaster in the park is most certainly not going to be my #1, but it brought back some memories, even though I only started going to the park in 2004. It just feels like a classic and a good ride to get on at least once. 6/10

Cedar Creek Mine Ride: This ride really wasnt that great at all. The staff operating it was also less friendly than some on the other rides. The layout was boring and it was somewhat slow. Maybe ride once if there's no line. 4/10

Corkscrew: I hated this ride. I didn't like it in 04' and I dont like it now. A real headbanger and very abrupt. The lack of speed also makes it one ride that isn't quite essential in my opinion. I hate hating rides at CP, but this one just isn't fun. 2/10

Disaster Transport: This ride was short, and not really that great. But I can't say I hated it. The turns and the tunnels throughout the ride were fun, and the scenery in the line was interesting. A good ride to stop by, but nothing great. 6/10

Gemeni: I didn't enjoy it as much in the back, but the racing element makes it one of the roller coasters at CP with the most re-ride value. The headchopper near the end was an exciting twist and it was relatively smooth. Red or blue, it's a great coaster. 8/10

Iron Dragon: I'm not a big fan of suspended coasters, but this one was much better than XLR8 at the now demolished SF Astroworld (my old home park). It's not a must-ride but try it out if you go to CP. 6/10

Jr. Gemeni: They wouldnt let me on! Too tall. Oh well... ?/10

Mantis: I liked this ride when I was in the front. The back is very shaky, however, this ride is a very good coaster if you "stand" in the right place. Better than alot of stand-ups. 8/10

Mean Streak: Not really all that rough at all. This is one of my favorite wooden roller coasters in the world. The lines not that long compared to other rides, and the track is relatively long. This is a good woodie that's large, yet not to bangy. 9/10

Raptor: For some reason, I always think of raptor and mantis together (duh, they're both B&M coasters). It's also that they tend to be rough if ridden in certain seats. However, I only experienced a headbang near the very end when I rode in the front. 8/10

Wildcat: This ride is small, and somewhat enjoyable. It's good to ride if there's not a long line and you're bored (although I find it hard to be bored at CP). However, not really necessary to a CP visit. 4/10

Woodstock Express: I didn't know if there was a limit for being to tall on this ride, but they let me on. There were video cameras mounted in front of the seats so I focused on that for a good portion of the ride. I don't know what to rate this, as I was just riding it to say I rode it, but anyways, ride it if you can. 5/10

So that's about it. It was a great 3 days in the park and I had a great time. Hopefully, by my next trip, there will be another coaster to review. I decided not to review the rides, as I didn't ride that many of them. Overall, the best amusement park in the world. Post some replies and let me know what you think!

Yeah that last turn into the station of Raptor is a bit of a head bang. I just brace myself because I know it's coming.

Great TR Ted. Sounds like you had a great time.

Good Report. One of the better TRs about CP in the past week. There have been so many. Glad you enjoyed Maverick. How did you like maXair and Skyhawk? Those two are more fun than all but 5 of the coasters I think (MF, Mav, TTD, Magnum, Raptor).

I just have to respond to this one.

CCMR has one of the better ops. You must be an enthusiass.

If you hated the ride in 2004, why in the hell did you ride Corkscrew again??

Dude, spell the name of the ride right: Gemini. You see the name every day in the paper under horoscopes!

Jr. Gemini?? Are you that much of a credit whore?? Must be if you got denied.

Woodstock's Express was never a challenge to me, even 5 years ago.

No flats??

Your report fails too. You suck. You need to have fun despite gaining more credits. After all, isn't that the point of amusement parks, to have fun? If not, then the name should be changed to "Credit whore Parks".

Hey that gives me an idea...

Thanks for the reply, and I'm glad you enjoyed by TR. I agree that MaXair and Skyhawk are better than alot of coasters, but I have to add Mean Streak to your five. I just love it for some reason. I am not typically a big fan of S&S rides, but I really enjoyed Skyhawk. Skyhawk was my favorite of the two, as you faced either faced fowards or backwards during swings, as opposed to MaXair, where you faced sideways sometimes, which for some reason to me wasn't as thrilling. I could really feel the speed more on skyhawk, however, the ride could have lasted longer. MaXair had it's advantages too. The spinning was originial, and my whole family enjoyed it. The line moved fast and it was a great ride to get on after we ate at Johnny Rockets. However, skyhawk, in my opinion, was a better ride. But they are still my numbers 1 and 2 as far as thrill rides at CP. Thanks again!

Now to respond to Andrew:

Thanks for another reply! First of all, just because I hated corkscrew, doesnt mean I wasn't going to give it another shot. I traveled all the way from Texas to visit CP, and wanted to give every coaster a ride. I'm sorry if I spelled Gemini wrong, I make mistakes. Again, I'm not a "credit whore", I just wanted to attempt at riding every roller coaster. And yes, I had alot of FUN. Just cause I wanted to ride everything, doesnt mean I didn't ride alot of things more than once, for FUN. And I didn't ride too many flats, so I didn't report on them. I'm sorry if you didn't like my report, but I had a great time, and just wanted to give feedback. Thanks!

^You're welcome

But it is kind of hard to have fun after you drop nearly $50 just to get in the park (unless you have a season pass to knock down that amount a bit).

Yeh, I got a Cedar Fair MAXX Plus Pass for by birthday, which made my visit a bit more affordable. I probably ended up spending the money I saved on more games inside the park XD. Thanks!

I did ride flats, I'm just more of a coaster enthusiast and decided to report on the coasters. But if you're wondering, my favorite flats that I rode were Skyhawk, MaXair, Power Tower (my first quadruple S&S tower XD), Matterhorn (funny thing is the lap bars don't actually lock into place). The troika ride also brought back some memories of SF Astroworld, my home park that has now been demolished to build condos, due to the fact that it was the same ride as Warp 2000. I also enjoyed a go on the Ocean Motion Huss Swinging Ship ride on my way out the back gate, on my way back to Hotel Breakers. It was my final ride of my visit, after waiting in line for 45 mins on TTD, and was a great way to end the trip (my whole family rode it). Thanks!

Hey that gives me an idea...

Were you not having a good day when you wrote this? Also, I thought you were a moderator. I didn't know moderators were supposed to talk like this, but in fact do the opposite to encourage people to post their trip reports, contributing to the boards. Perhaps you are a former moderator. I don't keep track of these things.

^No man. I've read your replies to people's CP trips. You need to apologize to all of them. Just because they didn't do a trip like how YOU would have done it, doesn't mean they're horrible! You're the horrible one for saying stuff like that.

What if the person had a FABULOUS day??! What if the person LOVED Wicked Twister, rode all the other coasters and flats, but just LOVED WT for some reason (we all have our things) and spent the rest of his day riding that ride in every seat?! Sure he tried out the other rides, but he had a BLAST riding that ride. Was his day good?! Hell yea!
