My Maxx Pass Trip Jibber Jabber

Later this month I'm going on a nice trip to hit up all the Cedar Fair parks in Ohio and Michigan. I'm trying to make the whole thing work out, so hopefully I'll get every park and every single coaster in.

The main issue right now seems to be working in Geauga Lake and also having more then one day at Cedar Point. My solution for now is spending only part of a full day at Geauga Lake, then drive to Cedar Point, spend the rest of the evening there getting on a couple coasters, then spend the next full day at Cedar Point.

I figure this could work because based on what I have read about Geauga Lake, you are able to finish off all the coasters there very quickly and be done with the park by 12-1 easily.

Is this the case? How fast could I get on and be done with all the coasters at GL? Also how long would the drive be from there to CP? Thanks for any input.

GL during the day and the later part of the afternoon for CP - doable. You need that 1-1 1/2 hour driving transfer between parks.

You can get all of the coasters at GL done in 2-3 hours (assuming all of them are open). The drive from GL to CP is about 1.5 hours.

Definately doable. I was able to do everything at GL and get to Cleveland by around 5:00, and I was not rushing. We also did not get to GL at opening.

Oh yeah- you can do it no problem. I don't remember the drive from CP to GL taking quite 1.5 hours, but as they say: your mileage will vary.

We were at GL the Saturday after Coastermania, and pretty much every coaster was a walk on, or maybe 2-3 cycle waits for seat choice.

And though I haven't heard anything yet, I would assume that Raging Wolf Bobs is still closed.

Ok great, thanks, everytime I hear about GL or look at people's photo trip reports one popular picture seems to be Dominator having an entirely empty station except for the front row... hehe. So I figured it couldn't be too hard to get everything in with crowds like that. I figure if I get into CP not too terribly late I could get in one of the bigger coasters (Maverick, MF, TTD, and such) and get on most of the smaller coasters or something. I've always liked to spend 2 complete days at CP in my past trips to the park, but have always been able to finish everything in one with the second being used for more re-rides and non-coaster rides. I figure 1.5 days or so should still be plenty of time to get on everything.

PKI to GL should take 4-4.5 hours, although it took us longer because the weather was awful the whole way and there was bad traffic. Of course, you might not be doing it the way we did, but just a head's up.

We ended up getting to GL at 3:30 and left at 6. There were (no exaggerations) about 60-70 cars in the lot, and maybe 8-10 buses. The longest line was for Dominator, which had a one train wait for all rows but the front (they were running one train, so it was a 5 minutes or so wait). Around 5, all the groups left and Dominator was a walk-on in all rows (including the front), but someone puked, closing the ride for the last 45 minutes we were there.

I'd imagine if you got there at opening, you could do the entire park in an hour (including the best coasters multiple times-that would be Big Dipper, Dominator, and Villain). Heck, we were there for 2.5 hours and we rode:

Dominator (x4)
Villain (x2)
Big Dipper (x2)
RWB (x1)
Headspin (x1)
Beaver Creek Mine Ride (x2)
Thunderhawk (x1)

Basically, you can do GL from 10-12, grab something to eat, and be in the park at CP by 2. The drive is 1.5 hours at max.

I'm not 100% sure of all the days yet but the general order should be next tuesday arriving in Ohio a few minutes away from GL then early on Wednesday go to GL, leave by early afternoon. Then head to Cedar Point for the rest of the day, stay the night in Sandusky.

Thursday we're spending the day at Cedar Point.

Then we head down to Kings Island for a day, then up to Michigan's Adventure on Sunday after visiting family on Saturday.

Thats the general idea for now.
