Tuesday was primarily a travel day to get us from where we stayed in Arkansas to Nashville TN. My friends there gave us the nickel tour and the best supper and breakfast of the trip. Instead of going to SFKK then heading north as planned, my traveling buddy wanted to head to Knoxville to see a friend of his. We leave Nashville around 12:30 PM, cross the CDT/EDT line, and arrive to meet that friend at 4:30.
They run off while I head an hour southeast to enjoy Pigeon Forge and hopefully Dollywood. That didn't quite happen how I wanted, because I got to Dollywood at 6:15 after going thru Knoxville rush hour and find that the park is closing at 8PM! That seemed rather early, and I couldn't stay another day to use the after 3PM ticket due to working Friday. So with map in hand I head to downtown Pigeon Forge to become a trapped tourist. Heading from southeast to northwest.
Stop one Tree House Golf and Games. This place has the second worse putt putt I've ever played. The greens have wrinkles and leaves everywhere, and there are two holes I would consider hazardous to your health, one of which you have to hit the ball up a 180 degree ramp and the ball comes flying toward your chest. (more likely your neck or head, I'm 6'4") 1/10 I suggest looking at the other putt putts, they are themed a little better - this was just the first one I saw.
Stop two Movie Rider. A decent motion simulator ride, for $13 you get 4 coasters in 20 minutes, 2 steel and 2 wood. I didn't agree with all the motions, but overall it was accurate. It needed the motion for stoping in the station at the end of each ride. 6/10
Quick stop at Sky Scraper. Took a quick look at their prices and size limitations. I've seen cheaper but not bad overall. Besides they sky scraper, they have a 2 person giant swing, slingshot, bungee jump, gyro, bungee trampoline, and go carts. I really wanted to ride the gyro, but as usual I was too tall and too heavy. I'm loosing weight, but I won't start shrinking for at least 20 more years
Stop three Pigeon Forge Gem Mine. I didn't mine anything myself, although the prices looked reasonable. $10? for their smallest bucket, the size of a pot for a small tree. There is a free museuem in here as well as a very nice gift store. My favorites are the geodes. I would like to mine when someone is with me. 7/10
Stop four Laserport. They claim to be the largest laser tag arena in the US. I disagree due to the one I've been to in Fort Wayne, but it was still large, and again resonably priced. $10 for 20 minutes. I placed second in our game, my best placing ever! 8/10
Stop five Wonderworks. This is a nice but over priced science museuem. I probably wouldn't say overpriced if I could participate in everything, three of their major attractions (climbing wall, 360 maxflight coaster sim, and 360 bikes) have a weight limit of 250 lbs. Otherwise there are some nice experiences dealing with mother nature, sports, human nature, and mind twisters. 7/10
Want to try next time: Dollywood!, the Police Museuem, Flyaway Indoor Skydiving (also has weight limit), and the currently under construction(?) Zorb. One more report to do of Kings Island, and I will hopefully have a link for pictures with it.
