| Sfa: 8/10/07 Today I went out to the park for the beginning of the day to get on some coasters and all that jazz.
I arrived at the park around 11, the main parking lot was about full but noone had parked in the second lot yet so I figured it would be a pretty light day crowd wise. I was a bit dissapointed to once again see the tram not running... Hopefully this idea will stick around because I really liked it.
After entering the park I headed straight towards Roar. While walking down the Mainstreet entry plaza I was happy to see an employee handing out what looked like free helium baloons... They were balloons and it looked like he wasn't charging for them at any rate. I dunno, I like that everytime I've vistied SFA the last two seasons (last year as a worker, this season as a guest) they always seem to have something new that makes the park seem just a bit more nice then the day before. The cleanliness also once again really stuck out to me, as well.
But, on to Roar, I waited about two trains for the front seat. The front seat is the place to be on this coaster. At the top of each hill you get some pretty sweet ejector air combined with a bit of laterals. Although its a bit on the rough side, its still a good woodie. I give it 7.5 out of 10
Next I went to Gotham City and got on Jokers Jinx which was actually running two trains for the first time I've seen all season. I waited about 15 minutes for the front seat. Unfortunately the loading and unloading on this thing is pretty slow at times. Partly because so many guests seem to be totally clueless as to how to buckle the seat belts or even lift up on the restraints.. and also partly because this ride didn't seem to be staffed with the most enthusiastic or fast working employees I've ever seen... In any case, it was a fun time. Deffinitely better then FOF @ KI and KD... Much smoother and the second half is far superior without the midcourse brake which completely stops the trains. The finale diving down and going through the final turns and the last corkscrew inversion is great. I also give it 7.5 out of 10
Next up I walked over to Batwing which I notcied doing its first test runs while walking towards Superman. I waited a couple trains for the back seat. I wish SFA would take note of how AMAZING KI runs Firehawk using both trains and both sides of the station and rarely having both trains in the station at any given time. I was VERY impressed with KI's operation of a Vekoma flyer and can only hope that someday SFA gets its act together on Batwing and can run it that well. The ride itself was fantastic. The vertical loop being the highlight as usual. Very smooth and extremely fun and exciting. I give it 9 out of 10.
After Batwing I walked back up to Superman, I waited a few trains for a front seat ride. Unfortunately today there was an unusually large number of larger guests and the employees felt like taking a great amount of effort to try and make it so they could ride... It seemed like every train there were on average two guests that required a recheck by the computer. This slowed operations down, but it still wasn't too bad of a wait at all. This is a fantastic hyper coaster. The first drop and highspeed turn is great fun. Every hill gives fantastic airtime... All around a great time. I give it 9.5 out of 10.
Next I walked over to Southwest Territory. Tower of Doom had finally reopened so I gave that a ride for the first time this season. I still think this is one of my favorite drop towers, the feeling of weightlessness is really great.
I went over to Wild One next. Waited one train for the front seat. The airtime on this ride is superb. From beginning to the exciting powerful helix finale this ride packs a great punch. Very great pacing. This has to be one of the most underrated coasters out there, IMO. I give it 9 out of 10.
Two Face was open and not running test cycles all day for the first time during one of my days at the park so I went over there next. I rode in the front seat that travels through the inversions backwards first after waiting a couple trains. I always enjoyed invertigos. They're really forceful and intense rides. I give it 8 out of 10.
After that I took another front seat ride on Roar, a front and back seat ride on Superman and finally one more front seat ride on Wild One. I then left around 2:20ish. All in all I spent around 3 hours in the park and got a lot of coasters in and had a great time. I only skipped Mind Eraser and that is because I didn't feel up to getting my head knocked in today.
The park has continued to look better and better everytime I've visited this year and I'm excited to see how much the park will improve before and during next season as well.
