MiG's Coaster Quest 08 (King Island now posted)

DAY 1: HOLIDAY WORLD / SPLASHIN' SAFARI

Day One of our trip took us from our home state of Missouri to the crop lands of South Indiana. Derrijk had never been here before, so it was a lot of fun seeing how he reacted to the awesome waterpark and the Holiwoodies. Not surprising, he didn't like Voyage either. I guess it must be a "MiG Crew" thing to hate on the Gravity Group.

On to the PTR!!!

Great TR & Pictures. You even have your own site for TR's Great log as well. Have fun on your trip. I look foward to the Canadas Wonderland TR.

DAY 2: KINGS ISLAND

Day Two of our trip took us to the south part of O-hi-O. There was no new credits for Missy and me, but Derrijk picked up a few new ones as he had not been on Italian... er Backlot Stunt Coaster yet and missed Firehawk at Geauga Lake so that was new one too. Didn't spend too much time at the park as we had to get to Sandusky, but we did ride quite a bit considering how short of a visit it was.

On to the PTR!!!

Here's a tip for you future TR's. Don't bash on world class rides.

The second I closed out of your site was when I read "HOW CAN PEOPLE RIDE THIS THING...LET ALONE MARATHON IT?!?!" in regards to the Voyage.

Hey, the Voyage hates you buddy. Not the other way around.

I'm not surprised Racer only had one side up.

^^LOL -- then you will probably not like this PTR either

DAY 3: CEDAR POINT / COASTER MANIA

Day Three of our trip took us to the shores of Sandusky where we have a very early call time at the park. Had a great day, even if it was a long one, and enjoyed 2 great ERT sessions. Oh and we met Zach and his family and that was cool... so enough delay

On to the PTR!!!

"WHAM! BLAM! BANG! BANG! WHOOSH! OUCH! OUCH! OUCH" That was your quote for Maverick and it seems like a Batman episode. I would agree with the quote though. I guess nothing's changed for this ride.

Surprising that you prefered the Beast over The Voyage. I rode the Voyage when it opened in 06 and loved it. Has it gotten that rough over two years? The Beast still shuffles and beats the crap out of you, but its not as rough as it is in the back.

BTW, Iron Dragon is better than Flight Deck?!?!? Flight Deck might be shorter but at least it has speed.

And you managed to hate every single top coaster of the past few years at HW, and CP (maverick). Congrats.

When I got of the Voyage, I was pretty much done riding for the day. I did one of those "sit and twist" moves on a bench and my back sounded like a machine gun going off. The ride is way too aggressive/rough for me. You're allowed to like/love it if you want, but there is no way I will ever enjoy that coaster, it won't let me enjoy it. The Beast can be enjoyed if you sit near the front on a non-wheel seat. If you sit in the back, you will get hurt (mind you I rode in the very front on Voyage and still got hurt).

Maverick just sucks. There is no way around it. It was very poorly executed and nothing speaks more of that then the trim brake right after the the tunnel launch. There is really no reason for the 2nd launch as the coaster still has more than enough speed it could go through the entire course without it.

I've ridden over 500 coasters, I don't HAVE to like every single one of them -- I especially don't HAVE to like a coaster just because it is at HOLIDAY WORLD or CEDAR POINT

The CP side of the quote doesn't hold too much weight. CP can offer an occasional ride that's not really accepted full arms open, myself included. It could be "Allstar" the ride in all the different segments of ride experiences it offers but I still feel threatened by the samurai sword whackings of the restraints.

Ok, you must have a degree in engineering. Btw, I never said you HAD to like them. I was just implying that you were in the minority.

^Minority? You should hear how many complaints there were about the restraints on Maverick at Q&A the last two years at MANIA. Regarding Voyage, I think that if the coaster had MF trains on it, it might be more enjoyable. The PTCs are not very forgiving to any pothole or extreme direction change. I just don't enjoy Voyage, sorry.

Lots of amazing photos from KI & CP. Great TR's as well. I would love to go back to Coastermania again but the one year i went was when they had to hold it in aug or sep. I think that was 2003 and it was really nice then. i had to wear a hoodie all day. Way too hot in june/july.

Wow. There's a very simple remedy for this.

^I'll keep that advice in mind, fanboy

DAY 5: CANADA'S WONDERLAND

Day Five of our trip (yes I know I skipped Day 4) took us deep into CANADA to just north of Toronto. Without going into too much detail here, BEHEMOTH alone is worth the drive to this park. We had a great day at the park and will definitely have to make a trip back here again in the near future.

On to the PTR!!!

ThePhoto Trip Report, EH? / MiG's CanWon Gallery, Eh?
