| Half-***ed TR: SFGAd 6/22/08 After accidentally sleeping in a bit, I packed up my stuff and hit the road to get to SFGAd. At one point on my way there, close to the end, it started to rain as hard as it did on my way to WoF. The rain lightened up after a half-hour of white-knuckle driving. The sun was shining as I pulled into the parking lot, but it started to pour soon after. Good thing I brought along my VF rain suit >^_^< I was relatively dry while others were getting soaked. Taking stuff out of my pockets is a pain though in those pants.
I got stopped at security because my "wallet chain is too long" (I have a chain with locks on both ends that secure my wallet to my pants), and had to go put it in a locker... what BS. I think I've been on at least 15 different manufacturer/style restraints and have had zero problems. At least they didn't make me take off my carabiner.
Once I got back into the park, I went over to Nitro. It was running 3 trains, despite the rain (aparently they run their big coasters in the rain unless there is lightning). I got on in about 10 minutes in 9-RR. It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, but I still had to close and cover my eyes to avoid the needle-like impacts of rain drops at 80MPH. Ouchies. The ride itself was awesome! Lots of good floater and ejector air. Right as I got off, the ride was shut down due to lightning. I went around hoping to just get in line again, but I was stopped at the entrance. I had to wait there until they opened again, which didn't take too long because then the sun started to shine with no more rain. I got on in 9-LL, and was able to enjoy it a little more since I could actually watch what was happening. Once I got off, the line was completely full, so I decided to move on to another ride: El Toro.
I find it hard to desribe it... I think it was something along the lines of WTFLOlBarBQuesauCe crazy! After a 30 minute wait, I got on in the last row-R. That cable lift is great... it's so quiet and it gets you up to the top so fast. I don't think it really slowed down much at the top. The ejector air was freaking INCREDIBLE!! It was really annoying that there was something on unknown origin striking me in the face near the bottom of the hills. I couldn't tell if it was wood dust or water from someone's hair or what, but it was painful. Move over, Voyage! You just lost your #1 spot in my book. The killer ejector air combined with the incredible smoothness of El Toro just rocks!
I then went over to Medusa, which was running 3 trains with almost no line, and got on in 1-RR after about 10 minutes. Standard B&M floorless.
Kinda Ka was closed for the day, which pissed me off, and I was getting pretty tired, so I just called it a day after that and left for my hotel here in Harrisburg East (just SW of Hershey), PA. I'm a little dissapointed with it because it doesn't have a fridge, so I can't cool off my water (just sticking them next to the AC for now).
Oh well, tomorrow is Dorney Park, and tuesday is Hershey Park.
