Photo TR: Dorney Park 6/23/08

Hello again! Today I went to Dorney Park and had lots of fun. The end.

Nah J/K I have stories and 25 photos!

To start off with, this is what all of the lines looked like:

Mondays FTW, I guess.

I began my day with 4 rides on Talon, one in each corner.

First drop:

Loop:

Zero-G:

Immelman:

First helix:

Wing-over:

Final Helix:

From what I can tell, Patriot is basically a less forceful Talon. It has a cool layout that makes it practically a terrain coaster, at least for the second half (after the first helix). There are also a ton of foot choppers. I liked it a lot.

After those 4 rides I decided to go to the park's other B&M:

Jo-Jo Roll!

First drop:

Turnaround:

Zero-G:

First Flat-spin:

Cobra Roll:

I think this may just be my new favorite floorless, with SM:KC (SFFT) moving to second best. The Jo-Jo roll right out of the station is so fun! You just get mega hangtime in both the front and the back. I think my favorite seat was 1-RR. The right side seemed a little bit more intense, and the front seat is generally the best on a floorless. The back was slightly rough, but nothing spectacular. I was getting a little bit of headbanging on my first run in the back, but once I started to use my knowledge of head positioning I was fine (I'm the height where my ears fall right between the restraints...).

I did about 5 or 6 runs and went off to my next target:

VooDoo was up and running today, but they were only operating with one train, which made the walk-on into the back row take a lot longer. It seems like a standard intamin impulse. It felt like I didn't go as far up the front spike as I do on Steel Venom. I didn't notice any slipping on the back spike, though.

After that I checked to see if Laser was running, and sadly it was not. I have only been on 2 Schwartskopf coasters, as far as I can remember (Revolution at SFMM and Montezuma's Revenge at KBF), and I was dissapointed that I couldn't add this fun looking ride to my count. So I headed on to my last target:

I did two rides, once in 1-1-R and the other in 6-3-L. The back row was way better, IMO. There was a lot more air. I could hardly feel anything in the front. The layout reminded me a lot of mamba. The return track seems almost identical.

I wasn't too impressed with it, so I headed back to Hydra. There was an airbursh T-shirt store that did custom work... so I asked if they could make a pattern similar to my Razorwind Studios logo. While they worked on it, I went on Hyrda a bunch of times, then went over to Talon a few times, then I went back to pick it up. It looked nice, but the shirt was a little on the long side and you couldn't see the "Studios" part at the bottom because I have to tuck my shirt in to keep my pants from falling off of my tiny waist. So after a little reworking of the design on a smaller shirt and a few more rides on Hydra, I got my new shirt!

Not exactly like my logo, but it still looks cool. This is my actual logo:

After I picked that up (at about 3:10 or so), I went to a gift-shop by Talon to get my Statix of Talon and Hydra, and then I left.

I think I got about 15 rides in on both Hydra and Talon. Good times, good times.

Hershey Park is up next!

Great TR and photos. I even like the shirt. I love SuperVenomDoo. One of my favorites at GL and it looks really good in it's new home.

I miss riding Talon & Hydra.

hahaha That was the same look at least from noon to 3pm you had of Talon that I had Sunday. Empty lines everywhere. Hydra was a walk on front seat the one cycle I was on. I don't take pics of the cobra roll from the front of the Hydra gift shop anymore because I don't like the view. I usually go down hill to get the roll shots. Voodoo only runs one train and you were lucky to get it while I was not on Sunday. What did I ever do to Voodoo? I did the opposite, giving a lot of love and getting a lot of rerides on Steel Force.

Thanks for the comparison to Patriot. I had to know what that was like.

On the way back, I stopped at a gas station and the cashier actually asked me what Razorwind Studios is! >^_^< Still haven't figured out what to do with the other shirt... If it can't fit my parents or my brother well, I may just have to come up with a contest or something for my Subscribers hehe. I'm amazed that I now have over 80 of them, considering that most of my stuff is rollercoasters... I have been in such as coaster building slump lately... I think if I could figure out the FVDs and the AHG I would finally be able to make really good stuff, but I guess I am stuck with HSAK for now.

You might need the other shirt in case you get the Freshman 15 or totally missed out on it.

This is a chance to get a legitimate back to back Talon-Great Bear comparison review. Enjoy the unique weirdness that is Great Bear. You'll noticed how it's arranged like Steel Force to cross over/avoid the waterway.
