| | | Hard Rock Rip Off Made my dad mad. I haven't been to myrtle beach in ten years. I just got back, but anyway I went there last Tuesday. It all started at the gate where the prices were fifty dollars plus a 15 dollar tax . My dad was really mad at me for making him go there. Because I wanted to ride led zeppelin "Really badly". So first I went on Eagles, I love that band, and it was quite a decent Vekoma mine ride. Which is hard to find "some of you may disagree". My dad rode, He hadn't been on a roller coaster since he took me on my first one "the double loop" five years ago. Next we rode Led Zeppelin with an awesome drop, and zero g roll. I loved it. This roller coaster ended up beating the tallest roller coaster my dad had been on by 40 feet. My dad was somewhat happy to be on a roller coaster again. I could even tell that he enjoyed it somewhat, because he kept saying to me "that thing had to have gone over 100 mph". I told him no but he still didn't believe me. Then I went on Slippery when wet, a caripro, the brakes are so rough that you can feel when someone else has stopped because of vibration, but decent ride. Then I went on Led Z. and Eagles again, then left. When I went on led zepp. again, I put my hands up for the whole ride, and hurt my ears on the restraint, it was funny , ouch.I did have fun and so did my dad, but it was not worth the money. sorry about the grammar i am working on it. Can any of you relate to getting ripped of at a park, or hurting your ears from putting your hands up. Also, Caripro causing vibration because of the brakes, or your parents thinking that a roller coaster is over 100 mph when it is way under. please reply.
Also I tried to go on maximum rpm, but it broke down, and people were saying it was because they couldn't the ferris wheel lined up with the drop. people also said that people were jumping the rails
is this possible.

| | | $50 and $15 in taxes for a ticket? Yeouch. That is really pricey for a park that just opened and doesn't offer too much yet.
Maximum RPM has been having problems with the lift. It opened late because of that, apparently, and from your report, it doesn't really seem like it's really got the bugs worked out yet.
I've heard Led Zeppelin has a bit of a vibration to it. Did you notice? Where did you ride it?

| | | Ok, thank GOD someone else had this problem! We went there, three of us, and it was close to 200 bucks! It was sad! And I felt really bad because my mom was really upset but still put on a happy face because all I had said the whole way down there was we have to go to HRP! She's not really a big coaster fan so she sat most of the day... When the three of us went to have lunch, we ate at the Diner BTW, and it costed us more that 40 bucks!!!!!! And I thought Dollywood was bad! OMG! I had some good memories of that place, but then the bad ones easily outweight them! It was so bad! The park was WAY over staffed! In the Led Zep gift shop, which I thought was a joke to have the exit where you had to go out through the gift shop, there was atleast 3 people at each register and then at least 8 people in the shop its self! And the show we saw, the beach one, was good, but deff. not up to DW standards! They didn't even say a word, it was all voice over! ARG! Such bad memories! On the way out, the lady was like did you all have a good time, and my mom was like no! That right there killed me if anyone knows how I felt... All I had wanted to do was go there and then for her to spend 200 bucks to ride Bench: The Ride was not worth it! I'll NEVER go back to HRP! EVER!

| | How is that a rip-off? Your father voluntarily paid those prices, so I don't think he has much to complain about. Nobody forced him to buy those tickets. |

EVER! | absolutely, my dad said, Ben why did you want to go here, you ruined our trip, even though he loved led zepp. I did the same thing dad can we go to HRP, come on please. And he yelled at me and said alright! My dad isnt a coaster fan either as you can read in my other post, but he loved his first b&m and fist coaster in five years, even though he hated the price. also, five years ago, my dad rode a lot of rollercoasters. now, he says that he is just too old he is 48. He usually just rides the bench like he did at PKI and IOA. But now i think i have reawakened the thrillseeker in him. Even though he hated me for the prices. Quote:

So what a Ticket to HRP is basically $65? Thats crazy. | But you are lucky you only have to pay like fifty, 40 with $10 tax. because you live in NC or SC. so you don't havee to pay as much.

Disney has been doing this for years. Pretty much every ride exits into it's own gift shop. Hell, even parks like Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, Dorney Park, and (if I remember correctly) Darien Lake have some shops at ride exits.
Also, I can never look at a park being overstaffed. I prefer they have more people working to minimize your time in lines (stores, restaurants, and rides) and to keep the park clean. Quote:

Also does anyone else no that whenever a caripro car hits the breaks it sends vibrations down the track to the other cars. It is pretty rough for a kiddie water coaster, but you get to drop water on people.

| | | $65 isn't horrible to be 100% honest. I've noticed that Theme Park Tickets are on par with Ski Resort Tickets in my area, and those are $74-$80 now. Basically everything is expensive now. A park as branded as Hard Rock Park I would only expect it to be not high in ticket value, just like their restaurants, its basically all novelty anyway.

| | | Frankly I think the prices at the park a rip off as well. I had to be objective when I did my review, but on a personal level the park is NOT worth $50+ tax. And no way it was $15 in taxes, unless he meant for both of you. SC tax is around 6.5 - 7%, for two people that would be around $8 in taxes.
Fortunatley for me, I got in free on the media days, but I can't see actually paying those prices until they get a lot more rides.
The place while a better park than Carowinds, has 2/3 less rides than Carowinds, and at $5 more if you buy at the gate.
I've told everyone that's asked my opinion, that I thought it was a rip off.
This isn't Orlando. We don't spend Universal or Disney money down here to get in a park. And $150 for a season pass is outrageous.
