SFMM 8/6/08 Not the best trip :(

Now having a seasons pass and having visited this park 6 times since i moved down here this past year. I have expeirienced the wonderful days of being able to just sit on one of the magnificent coasters and ride it essentially as many times as I wanted. I also went on a day in spring break knowing how busy the park can get. So when heading out in the summer I expected a little bit of madness, which is fine. How ever I'll get to my issues at the end. I arrived to the part at 2:30 after a much delayed morning. In the heat of the afternoon, it was about 103 at the park.

The crowds how ever where not the problem. There wasn't much of a crowd or lines, save for X2 (2 hour wait) And Tatsu (Roughly 45 Minutes) Everything else was either walk on or about a 10 minute.

First up Revolution. *walk on* I rode this once in the winter near the front and it was a painful mistake. This round I rode last car, and it was actually smoother and I enjoyed it alot more. Certainly Won me over.

Next Viper. Rode in the middle, waited about 5 minutes, still a good ride, seemed to be running speedier than normal.

After that there was an issue with one of our party members with heat stroke... got him to First Aid, which there is only one station in the park... and its out by batman. Completely opposite side of the park from where we were... This is my first bone to pick since this was the first time we needed First Aid, only one station in such a massive park?! And no easy way to get there for someone who can't walk... We got him a wheel chair but still... They need to create another station thats better situated for that half of the park maybe?

After that I hopped on Collosous. I rode in the back, Which I always enjoy and seems to make it a bit better, still a bit of a rough ride but fun.

Went on Batman, which we had to wait about 20 minutes for, not becuase of malfunctions but because their ride ops. where horrible at cycling the trains...

Made it on scream and got two rides in a row. THis is by far my fav. coaster in this park. Although they seemed to be having alot of techinical problems with it that day.

We decided we needed to cool of and watch the CSI:Live show.... my goodness that was a horrible show... I don't suggest watching it at all...

We used fast passes on Tatsu, I forgot how amazing that ride is, smooth, fun, and that pretzel loop is by far the best feeling one could get on a ride.

I most likely could have gotten on more rides, how ever here was the biggest PROBLEM I noticed that day compared to my other visits. The ride ops. could not cycle the trains to save their lives. Every ride that should have been running smoothly and at a decent capacity seemed like it was the worste. I dont know if its the heat, or what. Which for working in that heat I give them all major credit, but my goodness.

TO sum it all up it was dissapointing, hot and a drag. I like this park alot, it has some great rides, but I'll just wait for a weekend in fall when its cooler and people can function well. Also so I can get on X2 at last with a 30 minute wait versus to a 2 hour one

RJ is there more than one First Aid at SFGADV? I think there is one by security which is next to the Golden Kingdom.

Great TR. Sounds like fun with all the short waits. I hope for waits that short or shorter when i make my first visit next year.

Sometimes the heat can get to people which might explain why some of the ride ops were draging but all is a bit shocking.

It was probably the heat for the ride ops. It would affect me too...you can see it at all parks, a cool day versuses a warm one. Sounds like its all heat and everyone should understand that.

Other than that, Great Trip Report...

I'm sorry for the Heat Stroke stuff in your party....I agree, SFMM should have more than one First Aid then, I would really be steamed if I were you (and everyone in your party and especially the one that was suffering)

All parks should have 2 ore more First Aid stations. Carowinds only has one as well which again is insane.

Overall the heat was the biggest factor for sure. I know I was even feeling it and it was making the rides that much more intense and taking a toll on me. Def. not jumping to head back durring summertime in the near future.

But yea, a park of such size and such, I was shocked with only one. And anyone who's been there knows its a long way from the viper/tatsu area around that hill to the batman area where the only first aid location is.
