Dollywood's Splash Country 8/30 - 9/1/08

Note: I moved this from the dollywood 2009 thread. I had posted it in the wrong place. I apologize.

Hello everyone,
I am so happy to report that I did make it to dollywood, splash country, and dixie stampede this weekend. I did end up going alone but i had a blast! I arrived late friday nite. Now I will post my little review. This was the first time i have been to dollywood in about 15 years! Just alittle side note: i am 7 hours away from dollywood. I live in western ky.

Saturday august 30: dollywood splash country

I decided to spend saturday at splash country. I had read on one of the posts here that you couldn't see any of the park from outside the park (in comparison to holiday world - there you can see the park from outside and it is impressive I might add!) and that was correct! It was such a beautiful sight as I turned the corner walking into the park, it was like a paradise! I was so impressed with the scenery. I just spent a bit of time walking around to see everything (which also provided time for my sunscreen to dry.) Afterwards, I did the lazy river, again the scenery was so beautiful! I then made my way around the park starting from wild river falls and working my way around.
1)Wild river falls was great. The four slides are quite long and thrilling to ride.
2)Raging river rapids was wonderful and thrilling.
3)Swift water run. It was the longest wait I had. It appears they need more inner tubes, those of us in line had to wait for riders who had just finished to hand us their tubes. Other than that it was a blast!
4)Mountain scream slides. I did one of the curved ones, then came back to do the steep open middle slide. One comment about the middle slide, it sort of stings your back. The guy in front of me started rubbing his back when he hit bottom and I understood why when I hit bottom. It seems they need to do something to make it easier on the bare back!
5)Mountain twist. I did two of them. They were so fun. I was nervous about going down headfirst but it worked out ok.
6)Mountain waves. I floated out into the wave pool and let the waves toss me around. It got fairly intense when the waves kicked in. It was fun.
7)Fire tower falls. Man this took all the nerve i had! I wasn't going to do this slide as it is so steep; however, I couldn't stand the thought of chickening out so I did it. It was wonderful but one time was enough!
8) Cascades. I walked around and enjoyed the scenery of everyone having fun but I didn't do much there. It seemed more for kids and family.
9)Big bear plunge. I loved this partially enclosed slide. It was great!
10) Bear mountain fire tower. I almost didn't do this since it looked like mostly kids but I did it anyway! Many adults were in there. That 1000 gallon bucket of water emptying on you was so fun. then I slid down a slide to the ground.
11)Little creek falls. I just watched folks there as i floated around in the river.

Well thats my splash country detailed review. I tried to improve my presentation for steven. Hope I improved! I ate at the depot grill and the chicken and bbq was delicious. I then started over again. I spent most of my time at the lazy river and wild river falls. I really love those four slides.

Oops! I forgot the butterfly slides. They provide a thrilling way down to the the lazy river area after you are done with wild river falls. The view of the butterfly wings is beautiful.

To finish up, I loved splash country. I have to get back to work now. I'll post a dollywood review later. Peace everyone!
