"Perfect Day" at Cedar Point 5/17/2009

Well the 2009 coaster season definitely started out on an amazingly positive note for both my father and myself. I don't remember having such a great day up at the Point...

We rolled in the parking lot around 9:30 in the morining, playing "Perfect Day" by Hoku...paid the $10 for parking, and we had purchased the $45 All-You-Can-Eat deal (more on that later)...

First thing you notice when walking in is the new signage for Magnums 20th anniversary, and the other thing we noticed was Millennium Force had a train stuck on the top of the lift hill...day not looking too good. Also Top Thrill was not launching either.

Once "God Bless America" played we headed toward the Top Thrill, Corkscrew, Magnum midway. Top Thrill had a huge line waiting for them to open the line, but it still was not launching.

First ride of 2009: Corkscrew (Walk-On)
Rode in the second seat of the first car. Seemed to be running a bit smoother than it has in years past, and my ears didn't get boxed except in one section. I'll actually give this a high rating because it gave me a good ride. 8/10

Magnum (Front Seat) >10 min...
Waiting for this coaster was sweet, Dragster was launching a few times, and ALMOST got a picture of it rolling back. We walked all the way up into the station. The new signage out at the entrance is amazing too. No trim brakes the whole ride, but I think it might have had something to do with it being pretty chilly that morning. Amazing ride as usual, no ride ops stapling people in either. 10/10

Magnum (back seat) >5 minutes
We walked around and went back in line for the back seat, and there were maybe 6 people in front of us, but as soon as we got in line a whole bunch more people came, and boosted the wait time, and forced the ride ops to start queing everyone. The back of this was even better than the front, but it was extremely cooooold... 10/10

Figuring we should hit up 3 Arrows in a row, we went in line for Gemini...also we were looking around for that scavenger hunt that Cedar Point hosted. Also noticed the signs for Unlimited Drinks for an $8.95 wristband, which could be purchased in Lost Persons or Town Hall, but we skipped out on it since we had already purchased our tickets for the buffet.

Gemini (back) 15 minutes
This was one of the longest lines we encountered the whole day. They were testing both sides, however only the blue side was running for our ride. With Millennium and Dragster down though, they might have put both on... Anyhow this gave MASSIVE airtime. 10/10

Heading over into Frontier, we checked out the Maverick line 1hour 45minutes, decided to skip it, and take our chances on MEAN STREAK.

MEAN STREAK (back)
I was SHOCKED becuase they did not use the trim brakes on the first hill. This coaster was running NON-STOP, and when it hit the second trims it only slowed us a little, they didn't really grab. My dad was telling me that this coaster was running like how he rememebers it was before the trims were added. It was the most amazing thing I have experienced in a long time. Yeah I did get a headache, but it was totally worth it. 10/10

Hitting up a couple more rides in Frontier, we walked along the trail and saw what we thought was Millennium Running, but they had only just got the train, un-stuck.

Cedar Creek Mine Ride (2nd Car) Walk-On
This is just a fun coaster to go ride and act stupid on. There was a girl behind us who was a bit scared, but when she went on it, she kept saying, "That's It?" haha. Love people who are afraid of that coaster. 7/10

Skyhawk 10minutes
Rode on the left side, closest to Town Hall. I sat with my hands on my head the whole ride, just enjoying the flight through the air. I love this ride so much, but I do think that MaXair is still better. 9/10

Stopped at the Candy Store, and the Berry Store, which they switched the stores around a bit. Visited all the animals at the petting farm, and a chicken got loose...it was funny.

We waited in line to see if Millie would open, but it didn't so we headed toward the beach gate, and the rides in that area.

Wicked Twister (Back seat) 10-15 minutes
The ladies and gents of All Wheels Extreme were practicing so we had some entertainment while waiting in line. This coaster was damaged over the winter, a whole section sheered off in a windstorm, and I saw the missing piece a couple months ago when I was up at the skatepark, but they replaced both tops on both spires. It seems to go higher on the back spire now. 10/10

Disaster Transport (back seat) 10 minutes
They moved the entrance to where the Halloweekends entrance normally is. I'm wondering why you don't wind through the themeing anymore... Anyhow we got to ride with a little boy who it was his first ride ever. And the ride op at the end was funny telling us to exit to the left by singing, "to the left, to the left, everything you own in a box to the left." This coaster is good, but I do wish they brought some things back to it, like the spiel "enjoy your trip to Alaska" 9/10

We headed back to the beach gate for our All-You-Can-Eat meal, which went from 4-6:30, they had brats, baked beans, potato salad, fried chicken, toft's ice cream, cookies, and pepsi products. It was good food and I think a great deal. If you want to know about it go to this site (Deals and Discounts, Ticket Prices, Admission, Cedar Point)

While we were enjoying our meal, Millennium began testing, and Dragster started launching consistently. We decided to take our chances on Millennium.

Millennium Force (back car, front seat) 1hour 15 minutes.
The sign said 1hour 45 minute wait, but Millie has always had a superior crew that could really move crowds. We were on the red train going up the lift hill when I realized I was on the side I hated. I don't like riding on the open (usually left) side of coasters, I like knowing that if the ride brakes down, I'll be on the side they unload first. Well about 20 seconds after I say this, the coaster stops...3/4 of the way up the hill, about 290 feet in the air. I freaked out, but no sooner had I almost started a panic attack, had the coaster started moving. In the picture I look like I just saw a ghost. One of the scariest moments ever.

We headed toward the front of the park with 20 minutes left until close, and managed to get a ride on Blue Streak and a Front Seat ride on Raptor.

Blue Streak Walk-on
My dad and I both got our own seat, and beside the annoying kids on the ride, it was amazing. I don't believe they braked this one at all it, was definitely roaring down the track. Amazing ride. 9/10

Raptor (Front seat) 5 minute wait
Ahhh The "Craptor" as I have nicknamed it. If you notice the seagull crap all over the green paint then you'll understand the referance. I am in no way insulting how this coaster runs, as it is one of the best and most reliable coasters in the park. Great ride, the braked us in the second trims which was good, because otherwise we would've hit the end brakes really hard. Nice, smooth, and no jerky stop. 10/10

Overall this was the best trip to Cedar Point I've had in a while. A little bummed I didn't get ride MaxAir or Maverick, but oh well, there will be other trips. 95/100

How do you take a picture of a roll back? It would look the same as it did going up right?
