| East Coaster Trip
I will be heading out to the East Coast in a couple of weeks (July 24th to Aug 3rd) and I plan to visit several parks. My fiance is being a trooper, but she wants to do some sightseeing so I had to cut a few parks out (SF New England and Kennywood). Overall, I'm ecstatic about my trip agenda and was wondering if anyone had some advice on where to stay, things to do, things to avoid, etc. I could really use some help on the length of time it takes to do all the coasters and a few flats at these parks. I recall reading that Dorney and Knoebels can be done in one day. How realistic is it to do that on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Should I skip SF America? Should I cut some time out of a certain park and add more to King's Dominion? I know I have a ton of questions, but it's just that I'm really excited about this trip. Any help is greatly appreciated. Below is my tentative agenda. We'll be flying into Philadelphia and plan to do some sightseeing Friday and Saturday. SF Great Adventure will be our first amusement park. We plan to get there Sunday evening and spend all Monday there. We'll drive to Dorney Park on Tuesday and spend the whole day there. We'll drive to Knoebels on Tuesday night so that on Wednesay morning we can hit the park when it opens. Once we're done at Knoebels, we'll drive to Hersheypark. We'll spend Wednesday evening and most of Thursday at Hersherpark, before we head to Washington DC. All of our Friday will be for sightseeing. On Saturday we'll try to do a couple of major rides at Six Flags America and head towards King's Dominion for the rest of the day. On Sunday morning we'll try to finish KD and head to Busch Gardens for the rest of the day. Monday morning we fly out of Richmond, VA across the country. |

The pacing seems realistic.

Traffic is going to stink from SFA to KD on Saturday more then likely but otherwise it looks like a fun trip.

Depending on when you hit KD on Saturday you might be able to hit all the rides. Some of the woodies can be near walk-ons. I'd try to hit all of KD on Saturday and save more time for Busch Gardens on Sunday.

From what I always hear from peeps that have been to Dorney, you can do the place in 2 hours. So you might not need the whole day there.

The peeps will be in the Wildwater Kingdom Waterpark at Dorney on a Sunday so yes, you can do it in 2 hours. You may want to spend time in the waterpark later or go for another loop of the same coasters. I like Dorney's flats selection.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Your advice will definitely help my fiance and I streamline our trip. She's going to be very happy that we'll free up some more sightseeing time. I'm crossing my fingers Kingda Ka is up and running by then. I'm not betting on it being a great ride, but it'd be nice to get the credit out of the way. I have no idea when I'll be able have a trip like this again. I'm currently ranked 382 in the ride count. I wonder where I'll land after this trip. |

When I get older I want to take three of my best friends down to Orlando, visiting all the parks there, and visiting a few more along the way, then driving to CP and visiting a couple more, then back to New England. Probably won't happen but it's fun to plan!!
