Freestyle Music Park August, 2009

I took an outstanding trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. I hadn't been to the beach since 1999. I was seven years old at the time and I could barely remember anything about the beach ten years later so you could imagine how pumped I was to see the beach again. But anyway, I visited Hard Ro... Freestyle Music Park =P to get some credits in and also to ride my first ride from premier and my first B&M sit down coaster.

I wasn't expecting much from this park from what I've heard before about it and the fact that It went bankrupt in it's first year of operation but It wasn't bad. It was a slow day that I went so There were virtually no lines except for the small wait for the Time Machine. That's what we went to first. I noticed one major annoyance as soon as I walked in. It's great that everything is so handicapped accessible but walking up 800 ramps Is idiotic. You can clearly see that they were expecting a large crowd of people because they had waiting lines that covered the whole bottom floor, outside and then back in the upstairs part. If that line was full, I would say who ever just got in line would be waiting 3 hours or more. Seriously, that much Que line. But anyway, the ramps sucked.Loading is horrible. Usually you see a system where you can choose which seat you want right? Well here, they place you where to sit. It's just a crazy way to do things and it severely brings down capacity. On to the ride, The onboard music is really nice but nobody pays much attention to it at 65 mph going through 6 inversions, haha. The ride was great though. What B&M isn't great? But the layout did seem a little dumb. I could've made something better on RCT =\.

Now that I have ranted about The Time Machine, I'll go on to Round About. I didn't expect a great ride from this before I got on but It was a whole lot better than I would've thought. The Ferris wheel lift was really neat and the drop was a whole lot more intense then I thought. It was alright for such a short ride. If it was longer and had an inversion or two, It would've been really great. Oh and the nice mist of water at the end was really nice, lol.

I skipped some little rides along the way and went for the taxi ride thing. I don't remember the name, lol. I think it was a HUSS breakdance. It was pretty fun, not as thrilling as I would've thought but It was fun, haha. Following that, We went for Soak'd. I had a few problems with this ride other than it being not very thrilling. One, you only get really "Soak'd" in the forward facing part of the car so that could've been fixed so everyone got equally wet. Two, the capacity sucked, Period, lol. and Three, the little button you can push to get back at the people shooting you with water guns didn't even work. I pressed it like 800 times and nothing shot out and got them wet or anything. Overall, if you aren't really hot or want a credit on this coaster, I don't recommend riding it. It's pretty...stupid =\.

Iron Horse...this was my first Vekoma Mine Train. I expected It to be rough...and it was...but I never would've expected it to be thrilling. I rode this twice in a row because I liked it so much and the song "Devil Went Down to Georgia" was perfect for that coaster. It ended as soon as the ride stopped. It's better than what you would've expected. After that, we skipped all the other flat rides and unfortunately didn't see any shows.

After another walk around the park, the heat was starting to get too much and we decided it was time to leave =\. My final comments on the park: There needs to be lots more trees and some fans that spray mist too. Walking in a park in 90 degree weather all day with no shade is dangerous and not very appealing to guests. The coasters were all pretty good but of course more need to come to bring additional people. Even if it was something like an El Loco or anything compact like that. A few more thrilling flat rides would be nice also. Other than that, everything was pretty good. It's not a Carowinds or Dollywood yet but It has potential to be with time. Hopefully one day i'll go back and It will be a big competitor to the large parks around in that region.

Now For some Pictures!

What's this white thing? I have no idea... =D

Oh! Look! An amusement park!

Looks like something you would see at Hard Rock Cafe...Oh wait....

Random Buddha?

There's that darn tall white thing again. What the heck is that?

The Buddha head is way bigger than Iron Wolf, hehe.

This was a great ride.

Ohh! It's a roller coaster! This looks like it could've been named after a famous rock band at one time but I just can't think of which one!

I still call this Reggae River Falls because I still don't know the real name, haha.

Ooh, B&M Sexiness.

The Time Machine just begs for it's photo to be taken.

Ehm...It was alright =P

It's better than it looks! It only lasts 45 seconds!

Here's the logo...finally.

Elevator lifts are awesome. Look it's me in the red! =D

It's better than it looks...really...

Ice Cold Country...wait is it still called that? =\

Freestyle Mercantile!

What's the point of that gate? Seriously?

Goodbye Hard Roc... guh...Freestyle Music Park!!

Make sure you checked out that Hard Rock Parkway sign one last time. I heard the name of the road is changing again.

I wish it wasn't hanging from the street light and there were a few more standard street corner signs but I got a pic of the one while it still remains. It was the best I could do for the getting the former Hard Rock Park.

Weren't they supposed to spend like...$200,000 or something getting all of that straight? They had to change addresses and street signs and all that good stuff.

For the county road/DOT taking care of the road signs that's where the money is spent. I'm not so sure about businesses and their stationary like the Holiday Inn Hard Rock Parkway.
