This was my first visit to a Cedar Fair park. I thought I needed to visit some since I own a few shares of the company! I got there early and bought the Platinum Pass on sale for $150 so I got a complimentary ticket for the day. That was nice. I thought the park was clean. I'll give a brief reveiw of each of the rides I rode. Afterburn - It was a walkon since it was so early. I loved this coaster. I especially remember swooping down through a cool foggy tunnel type area. I have to say I like this invert as much if not more than the Batmans at Six Flags. Rugrats Runaway Reptar - I hit the other invert. Granted it is a small "kiddie" invert but it was still thrilling to me. Fairly Odd Coaster - Loved this woodie. Exciting and fun hearing the kids screaming! Thunder Road - Loved this racer even though my side lost. You get a great view of Boomerang Bay from this coaster! Carolina Goldrusher - I love mine trains. I really enjoyed this one. I just didn't like the part where it seems the wooden beams are awfully close to your head as you go under. I ducked to make sure I didn't get hit! Vortex - I am not a huge fan of standups but did this one anyway. It was good, no complaints. It was fun hearing the girls next to me talking about having a wedgie! Listening to folks is one of the funnest things to do at a theme park lol. Hurler - Man this coaster is more than meets the eye. It is very fast but a bit jerky and rough. I think this one is rougher than the Voyage. I am glad I rode it but I understand now why a girl said, " I ain't riding that thing its too rough," when asked by a friend to go ride the Hurler. Carolina Cyclone - I usually like arrow coasters. This one was okay but was a bit rough for me. Sorta reminded me of Ninja at Six Flags. Rip Roaring Rapids - Had to wait for an hour to ride this. I love rampage rides. I enjoyed this one but it isn't my favorite. Better landscaping would benefit the waiting. You would have prettier stuff to look at. Carolina Cobra - It was down all day. They said it would be down Labor Day too. Its the pits when you drive ten hours and don't get to ride something. Oh well, I'll get it in next year when I go to hit Intimidator. Night Hawk - I had had a headache all day and just decided to pick this one up next year. It had a pretty long line. I am not a big fan of flyers so I could wait. Boomerang Bay: Due to lack of personel due to school starting several attractions were closed. I got to do the following attractions. Awesome Aussie Twisters - Did both and loved them. Great slides with great speed! Love the translucent feel. Pipeline peak tube slides - Loved them both. Great speed and fun. Pipeline peak body slides - Lord have mercy! I almost chickened out but I made myself do one. I never went down a body slide where you hold your neck. I always cross my hands over my chest. I can see why you put your hands behind your neck on these. The eighty foot steep descent gets wild and fast quick! You are grateful your hands are there to cushion your head like a pillow. I am sure I could get used to this slide but once was enough. This slide was more intense than any of the roller coasters to me! Crocidile Run - I love lazy rivers and was upset that they just let you float halfway and then made you get off! Due to lack of staff I'm sure. Oh well, it was a bummer but the float was relaxing. All in all I had a thrilling blast. Carowinds is as good as the six flags parks I have been to as far as thrills go. It isn't the prettiest park in the world but it isn't ugly either. It is a great place to have thrills. As I visit more parks its fun to get the "feel" different parks have. Carowinds is a nice place to have fun. I look forward to going back for Intimidator, Night Hawk, and Carolina Cobra next year. |

That's a pretty interesting first park to choose for an initial Cedar Fair experience. I still think it's a Cedar Fair slap the name on the park job because the CF era has been so short but look at the interesting things happening there now. I hoped you soaked in all the Nickelodeon you could like I did because that is changing this offseason. I'm such a newbie to Carowinds too. Carowinds is a much nicer park than I thought it was going to be. Kudos to them. Coaster island in the center of the park is kind of weird though. Is it too saturated? I liked the setting walking towards Afterburn by Runaway Reptar.

^^ Yeah! I hated that Carolina Cobra was down all day. I was looking forward to it actually. I probably saw you there but I don't know what you look like so I can't say for sure =P. Actually for Nighthawk, the line went pretty good. I waited like 30 mins which wasn't bad for the huge line it had. That ride bangs you around a lot so it wouldn't have been good for your headache.
