KD Tips, please help!

I'm going on Monday, August 30th, and the hours are from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM. How bad are the crowds on a weekday at the end of August/beginning of September? Can I get all of the coasters and the major flats in time?

What would be the best route to go so I can get on everything? Some people have said go from highest capacity to lowest capacity. What's the best route to go?

Would there be enough time so I'd be able to get front and back seat rides on everything? If not, I'll just do back, save for Dominator.

Also, I love the fact that Cedar Point only closes the gates at the listed closing time, but allows everyone in line to get one last ride even after closing. Is that just a Cedar Point thing, or is that policy chain wide?

Also, I'm going to bring my video camera and camera along, which can take up to 1.5 hours total throughout the day (or so). How much of a problem would that pose? I like to alternately film and ride, as when I walk from ride to ride, I constantly see different photo and video opportunities.

I think you will be alright ride wise. Head to 305 first ( I am unsure if both trains have the soft straps), Volcano, Avalanche and Anaconda are all in the same area. Late in August and depending on the school system there you should be good. Mondays are normally not as busy.

Photo opportunities will be plentiful and you will get some nice shots in.

I believe it is a chain wide policy to shut down the lines at close. Not sure though.

So, if the policy is chain wide, do you think it would be a good idea to head over to I305 by 7:50?

So, should I micro manage my day, or should I just do I-305, Volcano, then whatever I feel like?

Chain wide... when the park closes, the lines for the rides close, but anyone in line at that time will still ride. The only (semi) exception is when they have Platinum Passholder nights.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).
I'm indirectly profiting from Wes since he's paying Katie to sub-lease her sig, then Katie has to pay me (since she is leasing it from me).

I can confirm that. I rode 305 in the front row alone at 10:30. Have fun.

If it's anything like Carowinds on a Monday, you will have no problem getting all the coasters and many of the flats in.

Normally most of the rides are walk ons during the week.

As far as my many experiences at Kings Dominion have been, I suggest if you get there at park opening that you hit Volcano up first and then maybe FOF because they always have the longest lines. From there you really shouldn't have to plan your day out too much because the park shouldn't be crowded. Don't worry about 305, both trains have soft restraints, but on a Monday they usually only run one train do to the cost of wheels. Even with one train on a weekday, the line isn't bad. I recommend back row AND front row on 305, back row on Dominator if you want a forceful ride and don't mind a bit of rattling, front row on Volcano for a "ohhh crap!" feeling right before the launch, and FOF is awesome anywhere. You should be able to hit up all the coasters twice I would say, and still have time for videos/photos. KD is nice for photos because it has the wide variety of themes throughout the park.

With Kings Dominion, I tend to go for the reliability order of coasters first. First stop is ALWAYS Volcano because that ride WILL break down sometime during the day, it's just a matter of when. Then head on over to FOF because the line can move slowly for that sometimes too and it breaks down every so often, but not as often as Volcano. I-305 is a fast moving line when both trains are in operation. The line was backed out to Anaconda when I went there and it still was only a 30 minute wait. Now if you are crazy enough to wait for front row (the least enjoyable row), then that could be upwards of welll over a one hour wait. After that, I really don't think it matters which order you do the rides in. You might want to take a gander (yes, I said gander.lol) at the speed of Dominator though. Last time I was there, the dispatching was incredibly slow for the ride. If you get there before opening, I suggest ride it first since it is literally one of the first rides you run into upon entering the park. Not to mention they will start Dominator before the park officially opens. Other than that, KD has some pretty fast moving lines in their park and I don't see an issue with any of the other coasters.
