There is no better way to learn than to apply educational concepts to real life. For almost 30 years, Six Flags Over Texas has provided a ride-related workbook for students to work through during their visit.
The workbook contains activities like data collection and analysis applicable to Math classes, as well as Physics concepts like Linear and Rotational Kinematics.

The new head of NBC, Jeff Zucker (41 years old), replaces the 63 year Bob Wright. Bob will stay on as GE Vice President until the end of the year, making the transition smooth.
Zucker, a Harvard graduate, has been anticipating this for over a year. He will be taking on the tasks to increase revenue through Universal film studios as well as the theme parks in Orlando, California and Japan.

Six Flags Inc. has agreed to sell seven of its theme parks for $312 million to PARC 7F-Operations Corp. of Jacksonville. Its chairman is Michael Jenkins, is a former vice president of Six Flags over Texas.
PARC will simultaneously sell the parks to CNL Income Properties Inc., a Florida-based real estate investment trust, and lease them from CNL. The sale is expected to be completed in March, Six Flags said. It includes $275 million in cash and a note receivable for $37 million.

Today it was announced that Paramount’s Carowinds has hired Bob Hohenstein as their new vice president of marketing.
Hohenstein will oversee all marketing for the park located on the border of North and South Carolina. All advertising, promotions, public relations, corporate sponsorships and group sales will be fall under his leadership.

SANDUSKY, Ohio, 2006 – Cedar Point will take guests to a new frontier in 2007. The historic amusement park/resort has announced plans for a new roller coaster for next summer named Maverick. Located in Frontiertown, Maverick will treat riders to multiple terrain-hugging elements that have never been experienced on a Cedar Point roller coaster.

After three years of fundraising and planning, the Hard Rock Park is ready to break ground July 13 at 10 a.m. at the 55 acre-site off US 501 in Fantasy Harbor. Construction will begin shortly after the ground breaking.
The $400 million park will be the largest tourism investment in South Carolina history and plans are to open in 2008. (more…)
