Gamblers in Las Vegas will soon have the ability to take the fall off the 1,149-foot Stratosphere tower and hotel. The hotel that has made its name offering an observation tower with unique over the top thrill rides will add a 855 foot freefall experience called SkyJump Las Vegas. Thrill seekers will be able to take a controlled freefall from the top of Stratosphere tower to a landing platform located on the second level. SkyJump would join Big Shot, Insanity, and X-Scream at the top of the tower. Based on a similiar experience off the Auckland Sky Tower in New Zealand the $3 million SkyJump Las Vegas began construction this month. It is expected to debut in April with a rider cost of $100. Guide wires will keep riders from slamming into the concrete structure of the 100 story Stratosphere as they descend.

Residents of southern California will soon have a new water park in their backyard. The world’s first Lego water park will open at Legoland California this June.
The park will be situated on five and a half acres in the northern part of the park between the Adventurers’ Club and the Lego Factory Tour.

For the sixth consecutive year, Bizarro, formerly Superman Ride of Steel, at Six Flags New England took the top spot in Mitch Hawker’s annual steel coaster poll. Voyage reclaimed the No. 1 position after being bumped to No. 2 last year by T Express at Everland in South Korea.

In a move to try and bring some of their magic to the retail shopping experience, Disney has recently announced plans they will be transforming an old retail space in Times Square into a new interactive store.
With hopes to attract young shoppers and their parents to the store, Disney will include an interactive princess castle and a kids theater, complete with animation and storytelling. There will also be special activities, events, and celebrity guest appearances timed to major Disney movie releases.

Seabreeze located in Rochester, New York will be adding a Disk-O for their 2010 season. The 24 seat ride will travel along 140 feet of track with multiple 360 degree revolutions. The ride, made by Zamperela has arrived on site and has been partially assembled. The disk part of the ride will be assembled closer to opening day in May.

On Friday, Disneyland announced it will be bringing back Michael Jackson’s character Captain EO in February, 23 years after the attraction debuted at the park. The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and executive produced by George Lucas, will now be in 3-D.

Last week Cedar Fair filed suit against the city of Santa Clara, saying an agreement between the city and the San Francisco 49ers is illegal.
The lawsuit filed December 7, says the city should have approved an environmental impact report for the stadium before reaching an agreement with the team in June.
