Batman and Hulk scale Pepsi Max Big One

Men dressed up as Batman and the Incredible Hulk climbed to the top of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s 235-foot-tall Pepsi Max Big One yesterday. They climbed it as a protest, and stayed on top of the ride for three hours.

Both men are part of the group "Fathers 4 Justice", who also staged demonstrations at Buckingham Palace and powder-bombed Prime Minister Tony Blair in the Parliament. Both men were arrested after being brought down and are being questioned.

Cedar Point trip puts juror in trouble

A trip to Cedar Point has become more then just a fun time to David Coulson of Erie County, Pennsylvania after he skipped jury duty to go to the park.

Coulson was chosen on Monday to be a juror in a lawsuit against a chemical company, and said nothing when jurors were asked if the trial posed any scheduling conflicts, as Coulson planned the trip on Tuesday. Coulson later told Judge William Cunningham of his plans, who wrote a letter to the park asking them to refund Coulson’s money for the trip. When Cedar Point didn’t return the money, Coulson decided to go.

Man makes 1,000th trip to Kings Island

Today, 41 year-old Don Helbrig of Fairfield, Ohio, entered Paramount’s Kings Island on a red carpet. Park officials chose to honor him for making his 1,000th visit to the amusement park. He was given a large commemorative ticket in addition to the red carpet welcome. Helbrig made his 1,000th trip with his wife Laura and 9 year-old daughter Maria. (more…)

Survive it and Drive It

Valleyfair and KDWB 101.3 have teamed up to host the "Survive it and Drive it" contest in which participants outride each other on the Wild Thing to win a 2005 Scion XA.

Bugs Bunny returns missing insulin pump

A visitor to Six Flags America lost a $6,000 portable insulin pump while riding "The Wild One" wooden coaster.

Park employees shut down the ride for 30 minutes to search for the device. Maintenance workers doing their daily morning inspection found the pump below the lift hill. It was later returned by Bugs Bunny and a WJZ-TV newscrew.

Lost wig causes Cyclone to stop

Amusement park visits are often full of lighter moments, sometimes even bizarre things happen. Such was the case at Coney Island yesterday. A woman’s wig caused the world-famous Cyclone to stop dead in its tracks on the second hill.

This bizaarre incident caused the Cyclone to be stuck for about a half hour yesterday afternoon. Thw wig apparently flew off of a woman’s head on the previous ride and landed on the track, causing a jam between the wheels and track.

Naked Record on Nemesis Inferno

A new world roller coaster record has been set in Surrey. However, this is not your normal coaster record, such as the tallest or longest ride, or even the most rides on a roller coaster.

100 students from 15 different universities participated in a naked roller coaster riding event before park hours at Thorpe Park. The park promised to pay 1,000 pounds to a university Rag committee for the best on-ride photo.

Holiday Park helps out coasterphobes

Holiday Park in Hassloch, western Germany wants to help thrill-seekers whose friends are not as adventurous.

Holiday Park has brought in the top expert from German Centre for Fear of Flying. It looks like the park has sold out of the 28 seminar spots, with one person paying $107, or nearly double the actual price at an online auction site.

In today’s day and age it takes quite a good marketing ploy to get someone’s attnetion, yet Six Flags seems to have done just that.

With Six Flags starting its first national advertising campaign in 7 years, the new heavy-framed dancing old man appears to be drawing in crowds like never before.

Free Cokes at Six Flags America

To kick off the 2004 season on April 3, the first 1,000 guests to Six Flags America will receive a commemorative Six Flags/Coca-Cola t-shirt and, when worn, FREE Coca-Cola fountain drinks ALL DAY April 3 (10:30am-8:00pm) at designated restaurants and refreshment stands throughout the park. (more…)
