Paramount’s Kings Dominion: Hurler is reborn.

Friday, June 2nd, 2006

August 2005 – The ride operators gawked at me, as the train holding me and approximately 6 others returned to the station. Its Wednesday, its raining and I was returning from my 32nd consecutive ride on the Hurler, the employees must likely think I’m nuts (they’re probably right), wondering if I will ever get off.

An early-season Six Flags Great Adventure review

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

After a long wait of four months, coaster enthusiasts and families got to go and have great time at Six Flags Great Adventure as it re-opened for the 2006 season and Six Flags’ 45th anniversary.

The usual rides were open, except the water rides. It’s still cold here in Jersey. Most coasters ran smoothly, and the park wasn’t too crowded.

Jerry S’s Birthday at Great Adventure

Monday, September 12th, 2005

Jackson, NJ – Riding roller coasters, one of the best ways to spend a birthday. That’s exactly what I did, on Sunday, September 11. Driving into the park, I noticed that the park was moderately crowded, but a little too crowded for a day like September 11, being in the least crowded month, and on a day of tragedy. I noticed though, that most of the crowd was Philadelphia and South Jersey, not really many New Yorkers, we were probably some of the closest people to New York at the park all day. (more…)

Trip Report: Six Flags Great Adventure

Friday, May 27th, 2005

So, you want to hear about Kingda Ka, don’t you? Well, you are just gonna have to wait!

I got there at around 9:30 AM. The ticket process and security process went well, and I started to get queued up at the carousel. When I got there, I thought I was pretty far back, but 15 minutes later when I looked back, the line was at the main fountain! Then at about 9:58, the rope went down. The only way I can describe it is that it was like the start of a marathon. Everyone running as fast as they could, tripping over everyone and everything. We all ran to Kingda Ka. I ran through the winding part of Kingda Ka’s queue, and didn’t have to go through the first two main switchback parts. Everyone had to go through the last one, though, but at that point we were still in a fast walk. I went to the right side as the guard told me to, and waited from there. 10:00 rolled by. 10:15 came and went. 10:30 blew by. 10:45 passed, with still no sign of any good things. They then told us they were having technical difficulties. I could tell it was a problem with the sled and cable, as the horn sounded, and nothing happened. They then decided, after blowing the horn three unsuccessful times, to take Blueberry Muffin off of the tracks, so the right side had only Schoolbus Badunkadunk. From what I understand, capacity doesn’t do anything much differently with three trains instead of four. The first train goes out at 11:05. Four trains later, I was on Schoolbus Badunkadunk.

Media Preview: Italian Job Stunt Track

Friday, May 20th, 2005
Where do I begin? What started out as a small group of acers met at the entrance of PKI at about 9:30 this morning. We had all been invited to be special guests at the official media day for the Italian Job Stunt Track coaster. How much of a true unveiling this was is debatable since the ride has been through techincal rehersals for about 3 weekends now. One kid that was there said he rode it 21 times last weekend. However, that may have been without the effects turned on. But I digress.

Ride Review – SheiKra

Friday, May 20th, 2005

Tampa, FLA. The day arrived bright and early with the alarm going off at 3am. As well as I was able to at that hour, I quickly got dressed and ready and headed out to the park, arriving around 3:40am. After checking in and receiving my lanyard credential and t-shirt, they escorted the group of us back and over to SheiKra at around 4-4:30 am.

Knoebel’s: Small park offers Big thrills

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

pittnews.com gives in-depth coverage on one of Pennsylvania’s favorite classic parks Knoebels.

While the park may not have the new world record holder or latest B&M, the park does have it’s niche as a family park.

There are also the classic wooden coasters Twister and Phoenix that draw coaster enthusiasts back to the park year after year.
