Orlando parks reopen after hurricane

All of the Orlando theme parks, with the exception of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, reopened this morning after Hurricane Charley blew through yesterday. No attractions at the parks sustained any major damage. Most damage came from wind damage to the landscaping of the parks. (more…)

Update: Florida parks and hurricanes

Many of Florida’s amusement parks have reversed their decision to stay open as Hurricane Charley roars across Florida.Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, the park closest to the hurricane’s predicted path, did not let guests in this morning. Many of the animals in the park’s wildlife section were moved indoors. A few remained outside, although the doors to their barns were kept open should they change their mind.< (more…)

Parks to keep open during hurricanes

As Hurricane Charley and Tropical Storm Bonnie sweep across Florida today, parks in Orlando say that they will remain open.

Walt Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld all have no plans to shut down as the storms hit. However, all parks are keeping a very close watch on the storms, and may decide to close if they feel guest safety is at risk. Some rides at the parks may be closed in the event of severe weather.
