• Fort Myers to possibly open Zoomers by summer

Originally announced in 2002, Zoomers Family Amusement Park was set to open just south of Fort Myers, Florida. By 2007, construction was halted due to financial strains and hard economic times which put the property into foreclosure by 2008. Finally, the project is set to come to light this summer thanks to the new owners.

After some changes to the original park design, the once elevated go-kart track has been removed and replaced with two other tracks. The first being a round track that will allow two seater go-kart racing. The second being a "slip track" which will allow licensed drivers to race while fish tailing, and drifting around the corners.

Additional changes will include a new central midway with water misters, various food vendors, an 18 hole mini-golf course, bumper boats, a roller coaster, and a variety of other rides. In addition, a 13,500 square foot main arcade building will be constructed allow for a variety of indoor activities.

I wish in Florida the Dania Beach Boomers with the wooden Hurricane coaster would return. That is one glaring Florida credit I lack.
