A 35-year-old maintenance worker died Friday afternoon when he was struck by a train on Vampire at La Ronde amusement park.
The maintenance worker was pronounced dead on the scene, and reports from emergency spokespeople note that the ride was not shut down while the worker performed maintenance on the ride. The worker was not identified pending notification of family.
While Vampire was ultimately shut down pending an investigation and inspection, the rest of La Ronde remained open to the public.
