Six Flags Over Texas is getting three new shows this summer. The amusement park will play host to Spirit of the Dance, The Amazing Acrobats of China, and Kathy Burk’s World of Puppets.
Spirit of the Dance is an award-winning Ireland-based performance featuring Irish dancing set to Latin music. World of Puppets is a marionette show by Kathy Burk, a puppeteer of over 30 years. The performance given at the park will be exclusive to Six Flags. (more…)

Six Flags Great Adventure will pay $750,000 to Betty Golembeski.
Golembeski, 45, suffered neck and knee injuries after riding the Big Bambu water slide on Aug. 9, 2001, her lawyer said.
The raft she and her children were in bottomed out because there was not enough water in the pool, the suit said.

A strike at Six Flags New England that began Feb. 3 is now over. 12 striking workers stopped picketing yesterday and plan to return to work on Monday. However, the employees vow that this is not the end of their efforts.
The workers first went on strike seeking to join a union, and now say they will petition the National Labor Relations Board to hold elections. The employees also went on strike to protest against treatment by Six Flags, including being forced to use their own vehicles to do their jobs and having their schedules shifted without notice. John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom since May 2004, will assume the position of Cedar Point’s vice president and general manager.
He is replacing Daniel Keller, who announced his retirement as VP and GM of Cedar Point effective next month.

Each weekend from May 20 to June 12, Disney will merge with the Star Wars universe at Disney-MGM studios to commemorate the third Star Wars prequel, which opens May 19. The events will be centered around Star Tours, the park’s Star Wars-themed simulator. (more…)

Tokyo DisneySea park at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort will soon open a new roller coaster called Raging Spirits. The new attraction, which will officially open on July 21, 2005, is in the themed port of Lost River Delta. The Raging Spirits roller coaster will take guests on a thrilling, high-speed ride through the ruins of an ancient ceremonial site. (more…)

Massachusetts is getting tougher about ride safety. Following several proposals circulating since last October, the state today took action to make some of them a reality.
Every ride in the state will now receive a thorough inspection before opening. Both ride operators and mechanics will be required to wear a badge, certifying what they are authorized to do. However some industry officials feel that the badges are demeaning. (more…)
