A 7-year-old girl complained of numbness, headache, and nausea after riding Six Flags Marine World’s Hammerhead Shark ride. Her subsequent hospitalization has caused the ride to be closed until further notice.
A day after the girl rode the ride, park officials shut it down and notified Cal-OSHA, the state agency responsible for safety in amusement parks. An investigation is underway and is currently awaiting a report from the girl’s physician. (more…)

LAKE GEORGE, NY, June 27, 2005 – On Saturday, July 2, The Great Escape will honor members of the United States Armed Forces with a Military Appreciation Day that will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display.
The Great Escape will salute all active military personnel by inviting them to celebrate the holiday weekend with free rides and attractions. By presenting their military ID at the Great Escape’s main gate, service members can enjoy a day at the park at no charge and bring up to six friends for $10 off of the General Use admission ticket price.

HERSHEY, PA – The Wachs Family of Owings Mills, MD was chosen from more than 400 families as the 2005 Hersheypark Family of the Year. Dad and Mom (Kevin and Melissa) grew up in Maryland and enjoyed coming to Hersheypark as children. Now they bring their daughter Mackenzie (age 5) and son Spencer (age 3 ½ ), who love the rides at the Park. (more…)

If there was any doubt about the success of Hong Kong Disneyland, an online auction may have put the doubts to rest. Today Disney auctioned off a number of admission tickets for a special preview day on Sept. 4, eight days before the park opens to the public. The tickets were sold out within three hours. (more…)

A new red white and blue event will take place at Kennywood this year. Today the park announced the first annual "Celebrate America!" days, which will run from June 30 to July 5. The festivities, which change every day, are based on the park’s Grand Victorian Festival. (more…)

As the western-themed Wild West World begins to take shape, park designer Thomas Etheredge says he will spend the $10 million designated for rides on two companies: Chance Morgan Inc. and Zamperla Rides.
Chance Morgan will supply a train, a large carousel, and an antique car ride to begin with, and will likely provide additional rides beginning in 2007. Chance called the deal "significant". The other rides will be built by Zamperla and will consist of two roller coasters, plus a mix of family and thrill rides. Zamperla stated that the deal with Etheredge will be one of the biggest jobs the company has had in the past ten years. (more…)
