According to authorities, a crash on "California Screamin’" at Disney’s California Adventure theme park on Friday night sent 15 people to the hospital with injuries.
Anaheim city spokesman John Nicoletti said that two trains on the coaster collided near the end of the ride when one rear-ended the other. 33 additional people were examined at the scene and did not require treatment.

Laser shows are popular nighttime entertainment at many amusement parks, but Quassy Amusement Park is putting a spin on it. Next week Quassy will hold the "Magic in the Sky" laser show in order to raise food for a local food bank.
Although this is the third time Quassy has held the event, this year’s show is brand new: a 30 minute-long performance on a giant screen outside with full-color laser animation, sound, and a conclusion with a patriotic theme. (more…)

BOWLING GREEN, KY—-The region’s most twisted wooden coaster was announced this afternoon at Beech Bend Park & Splash Lagoon. “The yet-to-be named coaster will be the only coaster in the world to feature three exciting station fly-bys, built right into the station walls! You’ll get plenty of up-close views of the high-speed train as it whizzes around the track,” says park owner, Dallas Jones. “The coaster’s first drop was inspired by the classic, but now extinct, Rye Aeroplane, considered to be one of the best wooden coasters ever built.” (more…)

The human body has 206 bones. The average digital camera has four million pixels and seemingly a menu option for each. Just as it’s easy for many people to blink, or to watch television, taking a basic photo is a relatively simple process for most. But, just as it is difficult for many to run a marathon, it isn’t quite as easy to shoot photographs using manual settings. Luckily, it’s a lot easier to learn the basic mechanics associated with the manual operation of a camera than to train for a marathon.

After being found guilty of reckless homicide in May, Charles Martin, a manager of the defunct Rockin’ Raceway amusement park, has been sentenced to four years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and a $5,000 fine.
The incident occurred last year when a woman fell out of Rockin’ Raceway’s The Hawk ride and was killed. Martin, who was responsible for the rides’ maintenance, was accused with circumstantial evidence of rigging a wire to bypass the ride’s safety system.

Guests to Coney Island’s Astroland yesterday saw double, triple, and more as the park hosted the Third Annual Twins and Multiples Day.
The event draws hundreds of multiples and their families to the park, and grows more popular every year. One in 27 births is a multiple birth, and this year’s event was estimated to draw at least 1,000 people, more then twice the number two years ago. (more…)

Dorney Park’s wave pool is so popular on hot days that the park says it needs to build a second wave pool to alleviate congestion.
The new pool, dubbed Wave Pool II, would open in time for the 2006 operating season. It would cost about $4.5 million and be about a third smaller then the existing one. Dorney plans to build the pool in what is currently a parking lot, taking up about 62 spaces. The park does not expect parking or traffic problems to arise. (more…)
