Cedar Fair has reported a drop in attendance of 2 percent during July, a problem the company says is compounded by record-breaking gas prices. In an attempt to reverse the trend, Cedar Point is launching a ticket program to bring families with young and old members back to the park. (more…)

DOSWELL, Va. – Ever wonder what it’s like to be a star and preview video games before the rest of the world? Well, here’s your chance! Paramount’s Kings Dominion and MTV2 have teamed up to feature Nesquik’s GameRiot, the country’s largest traveling video game expo. Festivities are open September 1–5 at Paramount’s Kings Dominion on The Grove near Drop Zone Stunt Tower. Event hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. (more…)

Morgan Hughes, owner of the small Williams Grove Park in Mechanicsburg, PA, recently announced that he is seeking to sell the amusement park, but with one main condition. Hughes wants the 155-year-old property to remain an amusement park and not be turned over to a developer. (more…)

It’s still the middle of August, but Paramount Canada’s Wonderland is already gearing up to debut FearFest Haunted Theme Park, an after-dark event aimed at teenagers and adults that transforms the park into a horrifying Halloween treat.
The new attractions, which primarily seek to scare guests with blood and gore, feature titles such as Blood Shed, Slaughter Street Fearzone, Massacre Manor, and Headless Hollow. The park will be divided into three zones: Studio Backlot Bloodbath, Curse of Sleepy Hollow, and MTV Rockin’ Scare. (more…)

Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins football team and 11.7 percent of Six Flags stock, today announced that he is seeking to increase his shares up to 34.9 percent by offering other shareholders the chance to sell their stock at $6.50 a share. The move would make Snyder the biggest owner of Six Flags stock. (more…)

Santa Clara, Calif. – The Nickelodeon Celebration Parade is back in 2005 with new floats, new characters and more high-energy family fun. As the 30-minute interactive parade dances through Paramount’s Great America weekends only Sept. 3 – Oct. 30, guests will be entertained by seven motorized floats surrounded by more than 20 Nickelodeon® characters including SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer , five interactive games and a cast of nearly 100 performers. Visitors to Cedar Point may want to enjoy Demon Drop now, because they may not get a chance to later. Cedar Point has put the 131-foot-tall drop ride up for sale. The park said that it was trying to make room for any new attractions.
Although Cedar Point is not announcing the asking price for Demon Drop, the ride did cost $2.5 million when it was built in 1983. The amusement park has stated that if no one buys the ride, it plans to keep the ride. Demon Drop will remain open while Cedar Point attempts to sell it. (more…)
