Robb Alvey is at it again for his third annual video contest! His first two contests were such a success that he has brought it back for another year. Here is a "jist" the rules:
- You may submit up three videos. - Videos must be 2 minutes to 5 minutes in length - Videos MUST be submitted on Mini-DV, high quality DVD, or high quality .avi file (details on rules page) via regular mail. - Content within the video MUST be "PG-13" - All video entries must be postmarked by April 1st, 2006

It may not have quite as high attendance numbers as Disney’s real-life parks, but seven months after the company debuted the free online Virtual Magic Kingdom game, Disney announced yesterday that the game has hit 1 million players.
The news comes as Disney prepares to add a Tomorrowland section to the online theme park later this year. A sneak peak of the area with three games is currently available. Virtual Magic Kingdom features Main Street, Adventureland, Fantasyland and the recently added Frontierland. A special section featuring Expedition Everest was added this month.

As the Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) prepares to open it’s sixth annual convention, the trade group is demanding that the businesses it represents are included in India’s tourism industry.
In addition to inclusion, IAAPI is also calling for tax decreases on the industry. The group cites a study indicating that Asia’s amusement industry is growing at a rate of 6.3 percent yearly, faster then any other region’s. It is estimated to have a revenue of $7.6 billion by 2008.

Gardaland will be adding a new theater. Plans are to open it sometime during the season, though there is not a fixed date for that yet. Sequoia Adventure, which opened late in 2005, will also be promoted as a new ride this year. And the park is also adding an IWERKS 4d movie called The Legend of White Horse. It has already been showing at competitor Mirabilandia.

The boy who fell out of Triple Hurricane at Cypress Gardens amusement park has been named at fault by the Florida Bureau of Fair Rides Inspection.
Cypress Gardens released a statement Sunday saying 13-year-old Martin Llamas was dared to stand up on the Triple Hurricane roller coaster. He remains in intensive care after a 15-foot fall from the ride.

Hong Kong Disneyland announced three new attractions today as part of an expansion plan. Hong Kong Disneyland is the smallest Disney park in the world and it is looking to add attractions on land reclaimed through the government.
Autopia electric guided car ride, the Stitch Encounter and the UFO Zone will be the new additions. They will be added to Tomorrowland and hopefully open by this summer.

Seattle’s Fun Forest, which is a remnant of the 1962 World’s Fair, is running into tough times. The park has not turned a profit and is behind on rent, jeopardizing its future.
Park officials would like to renegotiate their lease with the city of Seattle. The deputy mayor sees the land as prime development land, and the rides that currently operate there are outdated. Many think the idea of Fun Forest as an outdated operation that isn’t a viable option in the future.

Japan based Nintendo will be launching a traveling amusement park that will open in Taipei for a three-month run starting in June. The park, which was temporarily built last year to coincide with the World Exposition in Nagoya, will have rides based on the company’s popular Pokemon series. Nintendo is aiming for the park to draw a total of 1 million visitors after 4.5 million visited the park during its half-year run in Nagoya. (more…)

Last night, a teenage boy was injured when he fell from a roller coaster at Cypress Gardens Amusement Park.
The boy fell 15 feet out of the roller coaster Triple Hurricane. He was then airlifted to an area hospital. No word on his condition has been reported since the incident.

As part of Six Flags’ chain-wide 45th anniversary celebration, Six Flags New England announced today that it will build two new rides for the 2006 season.
The first ride, Catapult, is a Mayan-themed S&S Sky Swatter that whirls guests around in a vertical loop up to heights of 105 feet, forwards and then backwards. The second ride, Splash Water Falls, is a 60-foot-tall raft ride. Up to six guests board the circular rafts, which are sent spinning down a tubular track of drops and spins. Spectators can add a new element to the ride experience by firing water cannons at the riders.
