ThrillNetwork moderators form union, go on strike

Boomerang Bay Preview at Paramount’s Carowinds

Not only was March 25 opening day for Paramount’s Carowinds, it was also the preview of the park’s newly revamped water park, Boomerang Bay.

A group of enthusiasts and two members of the Paramount’s Carowinds Public Relations staff headed into the park before guests were allowed in.

Brazilian government offers Disney park deal

As rumors continue to swirl about Disney parks in China, India, and South Korea, the Brazilian newspaper Jornal de Brasilia reported yesterday that government officials are negotiating with Disney to build the first Disney theme park in Latin America. (more…)

Hard Rock Park to open in 2008

Lake Compounce to start 160th season with a bang

Lake Compounce in Bristol, Conn., will open its doors this season for its 160th season. To commemorate this occasion, the park plans to hold various celebrations throughout the summer and display a plaque in the park on opening day. But to top things off, Lake Compounce plans unveil a multi-million-dollar ride, Thunder ‘N Lightning. (more…)

Papa John’s and Six Flags strike deal

Papa John’s Pizza and Six Flags announced a marketing deal today. The deal would allow Papa John’s to sell its pizza exclusively within all Six Flags properties.

Six Flags will also recieve an annual payment along with numerous marketing opportunites to the customers of Papa John’s. The marketing even includes a Six Flags DVD distributed through Papa John’s showcasing its parks.

Disney World to renovate two hotels

The Walt Disney World resort is renovating rooms in two of their oldest hotels; the Contemporary and Polynesian hotels.

Both hotels were opened in 1971 with the Disney World resort. To keep up with the numerous high-end resorts around Orlando, massive room redecorating is underway. The Contemporary resort, built to be futuristic, no longer feels that way.

Dollywood’s 2007 coaster approved by Pigeon Forge

The Pigeon Forge Planning Commission has approved Dollywood’s plans for "The Mystery Mine", a roller coaster planned for the 2007 season.

The roller coaster is 121-feet tall and will simulate plunging over a broken mine shaft. Dollywood officials will make an official announcement in July and will not divulge any more details until that time. The ride will break ground next month and will take an entire year to build.

Paramount, China in theme park investment talks

According to reports out of China, Paramount is in talks with local government to invest as much as $7 billion in a theme park.

The theme park would be located in the municipality of Tianjin, which includes portions of Beijing. Local officials are confident that the theme park will be built, despite no formal agreement and the fact that Paramount Parks are currently for sale.

Lotte World manager to face criminal charges

The safety manager at Lotte World theme park faces charges of neglecting safety after a stampede injured 35 people last week.

Police questioned over a dozen managers after the stampede. Three were charged. The most serious charges seem to be on the safety manager. The park is being critized for pushing ahead with their "free admission" plan after they were warned a stampede could happen.
