Friday, May 26th, 2006

As the 2006 season gets underway, America’s amusement parks are once again engaged in a fierce competition to bring guests back. This time though, parks aren’t appealing to guests’ appetite for thrills, but their wallets.

Guests at parks this year will see a wide variety of lowered prices and new promotions. Cedar Point has cut adult admission by $5 and decreased food prices, the most notable being 25 cents for cotton candy. Similar reductions have been made at Knott’s Berry Farm, while the Disney theme parks have lowered the cost of multi-day tickets in order to get guests to stay longer. Although ticket prices at most Six Flags parks are up, the company will take $15 off the cost of admission with a gas receipt.
