Silver Dollar City lights up ‘Good Morning America’

ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) will broadcast live from Silver Dollar City on December 1 from 6-7 a.m. local time.

GMA will spotlight the park’s Christmas festival, “An Old Time Christmas” – one of the top five holiday events in the country, according to GMA.

Disney employee suffers fatal fall from ride platform

According to Disney officials, a 63 year-old Disney employee fell from a ride platform this past weekend at the Animal Kingdom. She died five days after the accident that happened on the Primeval Whirl roller coaster. The woman fell and hit her head after stepping into a restricted area on a platform and was hit by a moving car. (more…)

Holiday World adds carousel and kiddie ride

Via Press Release: The family ride line-up at Holiday World will expand to include a patriotic carousel and a bouncy spring ride in 2008.

"We announced Kima Bay two months ago, with the promise of more," says Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari president Will Koch. "This morning we posted a video announcement on YouTube with the news about our Star Spangled Carousel and Reindeer Games ride."

Indiana Beach goes Hawg wild for 2008

Santa Claus is coming to Ghost Town

Via Press Release: Santa Claus is visiting Ghost Town in the Sky and will be appearing at the A-Frame gift shop! 

Santa will be greeting all the little boys and girls from noon to 4:00pm every Saturday from November 24 through December 22.  Guests will have the opportunity to meet Santa and enjoy the atmosphere of an old fashioned Christmas.

Freefall at Magic Mountain to be removed

Freefall, the 1982 Intamin 1st generation drop tower ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain will soon go the way many of it’s siblings have lately, namely to either be sold or scrapped.

Six Flags Magic Mountain will start the removal of the ride mid-December as part of the company’s plan to thin out its fleet of aging rides to make room for future expansions.

Beech Bend hosts first holiday event

This year Beech Bend Park will host their first holiday event called Holiday Lights.

Holiday Lights will feature 2 miles of animated lights, a Christmas Village, hay ride, ice skating, visits and pictures with Santa, and most importantly the Kentucky Rumbler GCII wooden coaster will be running!

ACE tries to save Big Dipper

There may still be a glimmer of hope for the Big Dipper at Geauga Lake. 

The American Coaster Enthusiasts or ACE as most know them, is attempting to preserve the 1925, John Miller-built wooden coaster.  The John Miller classic is only one of 13 left in the world today.

South Korea to build MGM theme park

Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures won’t be the only new kids on the block in South Korea in the next few years.

South Korea’s largest entertainment management group, iHQ has announced plans for a new MGM theme park, set to open in 2011.
