Hersheypark Kicks Off Second Century of Happy

HERSHEY, PA -  More than 2.7 million guests visited Hersheypark in 2007 and joined the festivities during its Centennial season. Now, as the Park launches its 101st season, guests can enjoy last year’s admission rates from May 2 through May 23.

Robbie Knievel plans jump at Kings Island

Daredevil Robbie Knievel, son of Evel Knievel, plans to jump over 24 trucks at Kings Island May 24.

Knievel aims to jump over 24 Coke Zero trucks lined side by side. The feat would outdo his father, who jumped 14 Greyhound buses in 1975.

Knievel’s jump, expected to be the last of his career, is at 7 p.m. and is free with park admission.

Stealth site of first UK coaster BASE jump

Experienced BASE jumpers, Dave Moores and Max Hurd, took on the first ever UK rollercoaster BASE jump on 7th April off Stealth – Europe’s fastest rollercoaster!

The diving duo have completed a huge variety of jumps off fixed objects around the world, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.

Holiday World asks ‘Any questions?’

Ghost Town opens, Cliff Hanger follows in June

 Via Press Release: Ghost Town in the Sky, North Carolina’s mountain top family theme park, will open for the 2008 season on Friday, May 2.  Ghost Town is famous for its Wild-West theme, live-action shows and beautiful setting on top of Buck Mountain, which is elevated over 4000 feet.  The park is nestled at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains and is 4 miles east of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s Milepost 255 in Maggie Valley.  Maggie Valley is 14 miles east of Cherokee and 34 miles west of Asheville.  (more…)

Simpsons Ride Goes Green

Celebration City’s Roaring Falls Debuts With 5-Story Splash

Branson, Mo. – The largest new ride in the Ozarks debuted with a big splash when Celebration City, Branson, Missouri’s Biggest Nighttime Attraction, opened Roaring Falls, a new multi-million dollar water adventure ride. Featuring a 5-story, 55-degree angle drop for an enormous splash finale, Roaring Falls did not disappoint guests looking for the spectacular splash when the park opened for the season April 18. Huge sheets of water shot more than 60 feet in the air as riders made the final plunge, soaking both riders and nearby viewers. (more…)

Longtime carousel designer dies at 75

Marvin Sylvor, who designed more than 60 carousels that operate around the world, died April 9 in Miami.

The cause was kidney failure, said his brother, Robert.

Sylvor’s creations operate in places like Bolivia, Brazil, New Zealand, the United States and Singapore.

New England Dark Knight will not open in 2008

Via Press Release: April 15, Six Flags New England announced that due to a series of unforeseen delays, The Dark Knight Coaster will not open in 2008 and an all-new attraction, The Glow in the Park Parade, will make its debut in early summer.   (more…)
