Boy killed at SFOG identified

The boy who was killed Saturday at Six Flags Over Georgia was identified as 17-year-old Asia LeeShawn Ferguson.

His parents were informed of the accident as they finished lunch at a picnic area outside the park.

Ferguson’s father said his family is waiting on the results of the investigation but that they are "not blaming the park."

Boy killed at SFOG

A 17-year-old boy died Saturday at Six Flags Over Georgia after being struck by a ride.

Police said the boy and a friend jumped two 6-foot fences and entered a restricted area at Batman The Ride. The first fence surrounds the park propery, and the second surrounds Batman. His friend was not injured.

Disney closing Pleasure Island nightclubs

Walt Disney World is closing its six nightclubs at Pleasure Island.

The clubs will close after Sept. 27 to make Downtown Disney more family friendly. Disney will reopen Pleasure Island with more restaurants and stores over the next couple of years.

Riders stuck as Carowinds loses power

Several people were stuck on rides at Carowinds after a power outage shut down nearly half the amusement park Wednesday night.

 
Duke Energy said a crew working at Carowinds accidentally hit an underground power line around 5 p.m.

Liberty Land Fun Park opens its doors

In this age where small parks are biting the dust faster than you can count, it is nice to actually report the opening of a new family park.  

Just south of Salt Lake City, Liberty Land Fun Park is located in Lehi, Utah.   The park opened for business Tuesday.

Busch parks could be for sale

Anheuser-Busch is expected to outline a restructuring plan that could put its theme parks for sale.

The brewer is expected to reject Belgian brewer InBev’s buyout offer because it’s too low. Anheuser-Busch’s restructuring would include selling nonessential assets, of which the theme parks Busch Gardens Europe and Africa belong, according to The Wall Street Journal.

SeaWorld Rescues Stranded Melon-Head Whale

Orlando, Fla. SeaWorld’s Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Team rescued an adult Melon-Head Whale found south of the Playalinda Beach near NASA yesterday.  The species of whale, normally located 30 miles off the coast, was found stranded by itself which typically indicates an illness.  SeaWorld’s veterinarian staff examined and treated the 8-foot-long male and are transporting him to Gulf World for further extended treatment. Evel Knievel at Six Flags St. Louis opens

Evel Knievel, the newest coaster at Six Flags St. Louis, opened today.

The Great Coasters International wooden coaster cost $7 million and features 16 hills and 14 crossovers. The Millennium Flyer trains are red, white and blue, the same color scheme Knievel wore during jumps.
