A judge set the trial in a lawsuit between Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and the family of a girl whose feet were severed on a ride last year.
Judge Barry Willett scheduled the case for Jan. 5, 2010. He set a Nov. 23, 2009, deadline for the family’s and amusement park’s lawyers to settle the case.

Flames ripped through a haunted house attraction Wednesday around 7 p.m. on the grounds of Six Flags America.
A Six Flags America spokesperson says the area near the building was immediately evacuated when the fire broke out. Shortly thereafter, the entire park was closed.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point wants all of its past employees to get "Back to the Point."
And they won’t have to cook, clean, sweep, check a lap bar, operate a game or sell a sweatshirt.
On Labor Day Weekend, Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1, Cedar Point will host the first "Back to the Point," a four-day reunion for all of its past employees who worked seasonally or full-time at the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort. Families of employees are also invited to attend.

The future of Geauga Lake’s Big Dipper coaster is still in doubt after it was sold at auction.
Tom Woosnam of a moving company made the only bid for the coaster. He bought it for $5,000. He said he was acting on behalf of a company that wanted to move and preserve the ride.

A 12-year-old girl who had a heart attack on a coaster at Adventuredome has died.
Catlynne Shaw’s father, Eric Shaw, said her brain was depleted of oxygen, and it swelled and was too much for her body to handle. She died Tuesday.
Catlynne was in a coma and in critical condition days after the July 17 incident.
