Southern Star Amusement restarts efforts to acquire New Orleans amusement park

Southern Star Amusement, Inc., is once again seeking to acquire control of the former Jazzland/Six Flags New Orleans amusement park property.  The property, city owned but currently still under lease to Six Flags, has sat dormant for the past three years.  Six Flags has stated that they have no intention of re-opening the shuttered property.

“Kids in America” zone to debut at Freestyle Music Park

Park representatives also announced the creation of the Freestyle Music Park Kid’s Foundation. Freestyle Music Park is creating an area where children with their parents and grandparents could enjoy the best family amusement and entertainment on four new rides.

Record breaking crowds for spring break at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Six Flags Announces OTC Bulletin Board Symbol

Six Flags, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SIXF) announced today that its common stock will commence trading on the OTC Bulletin Board under the ticker symbol “SIXF” on Monday, April 20, 2009.

The Company’s Preferred Income Equity Redeemable Shares (PIERS) will also be traded on the OTC Bulletin Board under the ticker symbol “SIXFP”. The New York Stock Exchange will suspend trading of the Company’s common stock and PIERS and the common stock ticker symbol “SIX” and PIERS ticker symbol “SIX-PRB” will each be discontinued prior to market open on Monday, April 20, 2009.

I moved to Amarillo, Texas, in October, just after Wonderland closed for the 2008 season. So I had to wait to visit a park and ride coasters. But soon April came, and the park opened.

Children’s fair ride topples, 6 hurt

A children’s amusement ride in the Kiddyland area of the Puyallup Spring Fair in Puyallup, Wash. toppled over Friday evening, injuring 5 children and 1 adult, with one child apparently suffering a serious leg injury.

Fourteen children were riding the Lolli Swings ride when it toppled around 6:40pm.  All of the injured were taken to area hospitals.  Details about their injuries or conditions were not revealed by the hospitals, citing privacy laws.

A day at Atlantis

Atlantis LogoFor anyone that knows me, they know that I love water parks and dolphins. So, given that on my recent Carnival Cruise, and with a large selection of dolphin interaction shore excursions, I was left with the task of choosing which one was right for me.
