TEA 2008 attendance report released

Today TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) released the results of the 2008 attendance figures for theme parks around the globe.  The top 20 US parks welcomed 122.7 million with a 3.9% increase in attendance. There was confirmation of Destination parks being hurt by the economy while visitors looked to their local parks. Disney again took the top 5 spots and 6 of the top 10 spots for US park attendance.

Bid on riding in the front seat of Pilgrims Plunge

Carowinds clears the way for something big

Freestyle Music Park to open in Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Weekend

Today FPI MB Entertainment LLC announced the new name for the former Hard Rock Park. Freestyle Music Park is the name that represents the company’s vision and future direction for the park. Freestyle Music Park will continue to feature a rock n roll aspect but now as part of a theme that will expand its reach into country, reggae, beach music, pop, R&B, alternative, Christian, and disco. FPI MBE plans to use the Myrtle Beach location as a prototype and launch point for the Freestyle Park brand throughout the world. The company will continue to implement changes to the park in the coming weeks to prepare for an anticipated Memorial Day weekend opening.

Starlight Experience to brighten Cedar Point’s Frontier Trail

Cedar Point’s Frontier Trail will be filled with light and music when the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort will introduce the Starlight Experience, a brand new themed lighted walkway, for this summer.

Each night, the Frontier Trail will be transformed into a brilliant canopy of lights and colors that will be themed to the changing of the seasons. Similar to the climate in the Midwest, each display will gently segue into a different season.

Six Flags walks on the Bizarro side

Six Flags announced that Bizarro will join the ranks at Six Flags Great Adventure as well as additions to Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England.

On April 1, 2009, Six Flags announced plans for Bizarro at Six Flags Great Adventure. Following a four month multimedia marketing campaign, the company announced the thematic concepts behind the changes to Medusa and Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England.
