Holiday World’s – Feeding Families Food Drive: 20,000 meals delivered today

The first delivery of packaged meals and canned food items collected through Holiday World’s “Feeding Families Food Drive” will take place this morning in Evansville.

A truck provided by Kimball, International will deliver 20,000 cans and boxes of food to the Tri-State Food Bank, which serves the needy in a 33-county area in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

Southern Star Amusement announces plans for shuttered New Orleans amusement park

5262009105501southernstarlogo New Orleans, LA – As part of Southern Star Amusement’s redevelopment efforts, planning has begun on what to do with the shuttered New Orleans amusement park property.   Danny Rogers, founder of the company, and long time amusement industry veteran, stated, “Engineering assessments have been performed on the remaining major rides.  We are now in possession of firm quotes on the repair work necessary to restore the equipment to safe operating condition.”

Hall of Presidents to reopen in July

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — A July reopening is planned for the Hall of Presidents, an iconic attraction in Magic Kingdom.  An Audio-Animatronics version of President Barack Obama will join representations of the previous 43 presidents of the United States as part of an attraction that has been celebrating American history since Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1971.  Disney Imagineers also are updating a broad array of show elements.

Disney To Build Resort Hotel Near D.C.

The Walt Disney Co. announced plans Tuesday to build a 500-room resort hotel near the “National Harbor” area of Prince Georges Co., Md., just a few miles outside of Washington, D.C.

The hotel would help to bring more business to the National Harbor area, which already has a 2,000-room Gaylord National convention center.  In a press release, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo praised the National Harbor location as “a family-friendly base camp, from which visitors from around the world can explore the stirring sights and inspirational stories of our nation’s capital.”

Amusement advisory panel announces recommendations for amusement park development in Coney Island

Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert C. Lieber, New York City Economic Development Corp. (NYCEDC) President Seth W. Pinsky and Premier Rides, Inc. President Jim Seay were joined today by members of the Coney Island Amusement Advisory Panel to announce findings and recommendations for the development of a new 21st Century, 27-acre amusement and entertainment district at Coney Island, Brooklyn. The recommendations follow three days of workshops and discussions focused on branding, marketing, planning, programming and development at Coney Island, and will be used by the City to shape and inform development plans.
