Disney to buy Marvel Comics for $4 billion

Announced today, Disney has made an offer to buy Marvel Comics in the amount of $4 billion.

Under the terms of agreement, share holders will receive $30 a share in cash and about 75 cents per Disney for every stock in Marvel they own. Both boards approved the deal and it was valued around $50 a share.

At BGA evil never goes out of style

Review: Wheel Burrow (1968-1970)

ThrillNetwork member 2for2true remembers Wheel Burrow at Six Flags Over Georgia. Wheel Burrow was a Chance Tumbler that ran at the park from 1968 to 1970.

Those of you who never had the chance to see or ride this insane piece of metal won’t believe my description. Those of you who did ride it know exactly what I’m talking about. I rode this when it was the Wheel Burrow at Six Flags Over Georgia in 1969.

S&S Power announces new “Free Fly” coaster in Sweden

Skara Sommarland in Sweden has a very unique coaster opening in its park June of 2009. The new coaster called “Tranan” is a new design by S&S Power known as “Free Fly”. The coaster spins towards the track (think longitude wise) and is approximately sixty feet high.

Dreamland Amusement Park in Coney Island, New York shut down

Dreamland Amusement Park, located in Coney Island, New York was shut down immediately due to delinquent rent.

The owners, Thor Equities, says the parks owes up to $600,000 in back rent. The park has already paid $30,000. The park will reopen once all debt has been paid. The Coney Island Cyclone, nor Deno’s Wonder Wheel has not been affected by this closure.
