An investor group led by former Six Flags chairman/CEO Kieran Burke and former president/COO Gary Story have announced the purchase of Nashville Shores water park and marina and announced intentions to add major attractions for the 2010 season.

Take a look at the construction of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando Florida. See how the progress of Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade Village and more is coming along. Video was shot by Orlando Attractions Magazine. Knott’s Berry Farm will get Demon Drop next season.
The ride, which opened at Cedar Point in 1983, will open Memorial Day weekend. Demon Drop will have the same name, paint scheme and theme. Cedar Point put the ride for sale in 2005 but did not find a buyer.

The rides at Kiddieland in Melrose, Ill., will be auctioned in November.
The sale of the park and rides as a whole fell through. Notable items in the sale will be the 1950 Herbert Schmeck wooden coaster Little Dipper and the PTC carousel. Individual items will be sold at auction Nov. 24.

Holiday World set an attendance record with more than 1 million visitors this season.
It is the fourth season in a row more than 1 million people visited the family-run amusement park in Santa Claus, Ind. The official total was 1,039,359 guests.
Holiday World President Will Koch attributes the new Pilgrims Plunge water ride as a reason for the record-breaking crowds. Pilgrims Plunge is an Intamin chute ride. It is the tallest water ride in the world.

After a few months of negotiations between InBev and Blackstone, they have finally come to an agreement to sell the Busch Parks which include Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Busch Gardens Tampa, SeaWorld Parks and Sesame Place.
Blackstone has agreed to pay $2.3 billion in cash and get an investment of up to $400 million in its initial returns via InBev. Blackstone will now own 100% of the Busch properties.

This year at county fairs across the country, there are a few rides that are a bit out of the ordinary. Rides that once were owned by the late Michael Jackson have found new homes with ride operators and are offering a small piece of history, along with your ride.

A Cedar Point employee from Ecuador was arrested and jailed Sept. 24 on a rape charge.
Jorge Rodriguez, of Quito, Ecuador, was arraigned Friday and was in jail on $25,000 bond.
A park spokesman said a female employee pressed charges for the alleged incident that happened Sept. 22.

Disney apparently wants to spread the happiness from the “Happiest Place On Earth” to the rest of the planet.
Starting January 1, you will be able to sign up to volunteer for a day with a participating organization. After your service is completed and verified, you’ll get a one day admission to Walt Disney World or Disneyland for free!
