Although Concord, N.C. and Fort Mill, S.C. are still waiting to hear which site is picked for the location of a $100-million indoor Great Wolf Lodge water park and resort, Concord’s city council is planning to vote on project incentives next month.
Great Wolf Resorts announced in May that it plans to build the resort somewhere in the Charlotte, N.C. area. The company has looked at areas around Fort Mill as well as a 37-acre site off of Speedway Boulevard, near Concord Mills Mall and Lowes Motor Speedway.
In June, Concord’s planning and zoning board approved the company’s concept plans for a 465,597-square-foot resort. The same month, county commissioners approved a five-year, $2.7 million incentive package.
Next month the city council of Concord will consider a $1.5 million infrastructure incentive package as well.
