News: Trial over SFKK accident won’t start early

The date won’t be moved ahead in the trial of a girl whose feet were severed on a ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

The family of Kaitlyn Lasitter requested the trial be moved earlier than Jan. 12, 2010, but the judge denied the request. Jefferson Circuit Judge Barry Willett said the date is reasonable, but he ordered the parties to attempt to resolve the claims before the pretrial in November 2009.

The family’s lawyer said he wanted an earlier trial so the family could pay for Kaitlyn’s rehabilitation.

Cables on Superman Tower of Power snapped on June 20, 2007, cutting off Kaitlyn’s feet. Doctors reattached her right foot but had to have some of her left leg amputated.
